Bio and Links
Bio Photo 2010, I am in the process of gathering the soldiers of the Civil War 85th ILLinois Infantry Regiment into virtual cemeteries.

Please email me if you know the resting place of any soldier I have not yet found.

Origins of Companies

September 2013. I have started a virtual cemetery for Mason County IL WWI Veterans.

2012 Virtual Cemetery for victims of the Chatsworth Train Wreck in my list virtual cemeteries.
2015 Virtual cemetery for victims of the Peoria 1881 Woolner Distillery Explosion

Please contact me if I enter incorrect info or links.

I enjoy taking and posting photos.

Cemetery walking involves planning, time, gas, bees, flies, gnats, ticks, assorted other bugs, dogs, burrs, briars, weeds, tall grass, snakes, scrapes, cuts, mud, dirt, snow, rain, dust, wind, sun, rutted roads, hills and dales, getting lost, and BUCKETS of sweat.

I had to throw my lunch to a couple wild peacocks headed my way. Seems they have a fondness for egg salad.

I appreciate those folks who list their source when posting my photos to :)

"They say such nice things about people at their funerals that it makes me sad that I'm going to miss mine by just a few days."

Charles E. Bacon
Dear Debra,

Can you tell me where you obtained the genealogical information on Charles E. Bacon buried in Springdale Cemetery in Peoria? I believe he is my long lost great-grandfather and I have been looking for him for 50 years. Any help will be greatly appreciated. You can reach me at: Many, many thanks, Forrest Chisman

Virginia Hartz and Martha Barlow photos
Debra, thanks so much for the clear photos! You definitely caught much better light than I did. It looks like Virginia's marker is lying down? It wasn't when I was there. I really need to call Springfield to have that reset. Did you notice if the large "Hartz" stone was still lying down? Thanks again.

Memorial 94059510
John B Buck, buried in Quiver Cemetery, Havana, Mason, Illinois. Died 25 Mar, 1930.
John is my wife's ancestor. We know little of his mother and nothing of his father.
Do you have any information about John's father?

Thank you!
Thank you for adding the photos to the memorials I have custody for my Lochbaum and related lines. Also, thank you for creating the memorials you find when you volunteer your time walking and photographing cemeteries.

Your contributions are invaluable and greatly appreciated, especially by those of us who live so far away we will probably never get to our ancestor's resting places.

Dean Proctor
I can't thank you enough for taking this picture for me. I'm helping a dear friend complete his tree, and he doesn't know the first thing about it. The fact you sent pictures from ALL the Proctor headstones, is a HUGE bonus.

I can't make out the name or date on the far right headstone ( as you look at the picture). Could you please tell me what it says, if possible?

Once again, thank you ever so much for your generous time and awesome picture of Dean Proctors headstone. I'm very grateful to you.
