I lived and worked in the Dallas area over 35 years and now reside in northeast Texas. I LOVE the older cemeteries in this area (Cass, Camp, Gregg, Harrison, Marion, Morris, Titus |
and Upshur counties).
Some contributors on this site are too "serious" and want to "collect" memorials....I am not a collector (I don't manage more memorials than I created) nor a hoarder (I will transfer/I don't manage all that I have created). I do like to be accurate in linking so I do my own research, but welcome your contributions and suggestions!
If you send me a "link" edit and I cannot verify it on my own, I will still generally accept it, but will place your name on the memorial, so if someone has a question about it, they can contact you!
I do NOT link to "unknown burial" memorials. This site is called Find a "Grave" for a reason.
Please always remember: "You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar".
HAPPY HUNTING !!!

I found that there are two memorials for her; the other was created first, so I've sent a request to merge. You can disregard the link request. I'll send that to the other person. I did find her parents though from various places, and the census and other related documents on Ancestry.com were the key. Thanks

I put the information/links to the Alford Family Associations in the notes/edit section for your review. Other than census records/marriage records on ancestry, the Alford Family Association has the best information on my grandfathers (Jeptha) family lineage.
i really do appreciate you looking at this information with an open mind, i also would like all the info to be correct as well.
look at !860 DecaTUR cOUNTY LOOK AT aNTHONY hAYS HOUSEHOLD. THE WOMAN UNDER HIM NEXT IS c. e. hays...i know its hard to make out ...the E looks like an R but ita because the ink was smugged the way them old dip pens do. I know its an E because of the fact of the Elizabeth on his headstone is Elizabeth 23 Sept 1826 - 30 Apr 1865.

Yes, lots of family in San Augustine and Norwood. There are a lot of Sowell's in the county. My parents are buried there also, along with gparents and ggrandparents,

there are many many Lincoln Cemetery Dallas date discrepancies between tombstones and death certificates. many reasons for this. best we can do is record both sets of dates and move on.
|Chuck Barrow||RE: Burton Brothers|
Actually 2nd cousin. But that would be great. I would be honored to have them.

|Sheila||Camp County Story|
Just one author who touches on just about everything in 'old Camp County'.
Info on original cemeteries, schools, communities, basic history, original settlers. Very interesting read with lots of miscellaneous information.
BTW, I also have that Upshur county Sesquicentennial book with all the family stories.
