Bio Photo So Many Ancestors....So Little Time..
I was born in N.C. a long time ago and have lived in VA. for quite some time.
I enjoy researching civil war soldiers and their families and live in the Heart of the Confederacy.
I enjoy painting with acrylics, especially Old Homeplaces..Beach Scenes..Old Depots, any OLD buildings and such!
I have been Following the Periwinkle in Henry County, VA. and surrounding areas for over 25 years and have enjoyed every minute. :O)
There are many soldiers in my virtual Confederate Cemetery here on Findagrave.
If I can help you with anything, please feel free to ask me.
If you want me to transfer a memorial Please Include Your Findagrave # and go to Edit and ask me there.
I want to thank all the people that have helped me with my research over the years.
Two are Laura Rust and Eugene Landreth who helped my Mom and I when we first started our quest in the 1980s.
The "stories" are what make our ancestors on findagrave come alive once more.

Dear Ancestor,
YOUR TOMBSTONE STANDS AMONG THE REST
NEGLECTED AND ALONE
THE NAME AND DATE HAVE WORN OFF
THE WEATHERED MARBLE STONE
IT REACHES OUT TO ALL WHO CARE.
IT'S NOW TOO LATE TO MOURN
YOU DID NOT KNOW THAT I'D EXIST
YOU DIED....AND I WAS BORN
YET EACH OF US ARE CELLS OF YOU
IN FLESH, IN BLOOD, IN BONE.
OUR HEARTS CONTRACT AND BEAT A PULSE
ENTIRELY NOT OUR OWN
DEAR ANCESTOR, THE PLACE YOU FILLED
SOME HUNDRED YEARS AGO
SPREADS OUT AMONG THE ONES YOU LEFT
WHO WOULD HAVE LOVED YOU SO
I WONDER HOW YOU LIVED AND LOVED.
I WONDER IF YOU KNEW
THAT SOMEDAY I WOULD FIND THIS PLACE
AND COME TO VISIT YOU.....

Find A Grave gives us an "Unknown" choice for burials or cremations, etc. and if it's a known fact that these people are dead, and they will most likely never be officially linked to any particular burial place, they also have a right to be remembered and to be linked to their other family members.
I will gladly link those who have an unknown status.
That can easily be changed if they are proved to be in any particular place.
They were somebody too, and deserve to be remembered.
If you send me a request and I do not address it within a few days, please re-send!
If you re-send and still get no response, go ahead and list my memorial on here, because I'm probably dead. :)

I have no idea what happened to her parents. I don't even know who put them in Find A Grave. But if they're listed, it looks like they would come up.

That's a mystery to me also.

Re Thomas Reynolds Taylor and his mother Elizabeth Dearing Reynolds Taylor
I have quite a bit of info that I have found and have sources for them both also info regarding Thomas R Taylor's two wives, for example his second wife's maiden name was Pickard. There is too much info to put in a public message. Please email me at tavalon@yahoo.com so I can send you the info more directly. Unless you have access to Ancestry where you could access this info on my tree. Let me know.

Re: Infant Whetmore
This is involved: Infant Whetmore 55220437 @ Sharon Baptist is also listed in same cemetery by P. Sloan 101274654. The name is misspelled on the stone. It is Wetmore (confirmed by his living sister). There is also a memorial @ Sharon Cemetery in Montgomery Co. 86164158. This memorial has a copy of the death certificate. This is incorrect cemetery.
He is son of John Wetmore--57966021 and Ada Wetmore--57965968 @ Speedwell Presbyterian in Rockingham Co.
Sharon Baptist in Rockingham Co is the correct cemetery. I'm am contacting you since your memorial was created first.
Good luck. Let me know if I can help in any way. Peggy

Aliminta Adkins Craig
You had posted a Craig Cemetery with this lady in it. She was a sister of my great grandfather. I know they lived in the area now known as Morans Hill, her husband Cope Craig has a road named after him. Any idea on the location of the graves?

Robert Wray
Don't know if you ever received an answer from "Chantel" (I have never gotten a request answered from that member)regarding Robert Wray d. 1929. According to his will he did not name any children. He did name a nephew Robert Wray "son of brother Andrew Wray". His will was probated Nov. 1829 in Rockingham County. Hope this helps.

FYI
Hi,
I have come across an unusual fate of life. My mother is a Matthews and I have been digging in to my father's line. After several lines I found Mathews/Matthews in his family and so far they do not connect. Your find work has helped me with my father's family.

Many thanks for your Find A Grave work.

Best Regards,

not Georgie Girl
Hello Deegraver,

I am not Georgie Girl. I am a direct descendant of Isham Johnson Miles and 2nd wife, Elizabeth Carter, dau of Joseph Carter and Judith Chastain. Judith Chastain was the dau of Pierre Chastain, Jr. He is the son of Dr. Pierre Chastain, Sr., the Huguenot Immigrant from France to the Virginia Colony on James River in 1700. If you go to
http://www.pierrechastain.com, you will discover a wealth of information. The Chastain lineage goes back to King Louis XIII where our ancestor was page to the King of France. Also, King William of England gave our ancestor, Dr. Pierre Chastain, Sr., a land grant of 1,154 acres of land for his service in the Anglican Church established in the Virginia Colony in the early 1700's.

This has been quite a find for me.

Huguenots in Miles family
Hello Deegraver,
Did you know that Isham Johnson Miles's 2nd wife, Elizabeth Carter, was the dau of Judith Chastain and Joseph Carter? Judith Chastain was the dau of Pierre Chastain, Jr. and Mildred Archer. He was the son of Dr.Pierre Chastain,Sr. a barber and a surgeon from France and his 2nd wife, Anne Soblet.
Dr. Pierre Chastain, Sr. immigrated from France to the VA colony on the James River. He was a Huguenot along with his family and friends. The house he built in the early 1700's is still standing today. If you go to
http://www.pierechastain.com you will find a wealth of information. If you want, you can email me at jpruitt3@triad.rr.com and I will send you a list of Find A Grave #'s to take you from Edward Miles to Dr. Pierre Chastain and our ancestor, his 2nd wife, Anne Soblet Chastain.
