RE: MARTHA BROWN
Yes,I do have an Ancesry.com account. The Hill/Brown file is open to the public.

I live in California and don't have much contact with the family down there. Do you ever visit your great grandmothers gravesite? I need a picture, anything. I can't pull up a picture on findagrave.com??

I will try to purchase a death certificate for Alonzo with all the information provided.

I have researching a long time but not as seasoned as you.

Thank you, and if you discover/hear any other information pertaining to the hill/Browns/Chambers please share.

RE: Francis Smyer
Thanks for the credits but they aren't necessary, I do this as a labor of love.
Francis' descendants, for the most part, retained the old spelling of 'Smyre' as do most folks around here.

You might want to add Francis' war record:

SMYRE, FRANCIS SHUFORD, Private, Company G, 57th Regiment N.C. Troops - Enlisted at Camp Vance on March 9, 1864, for the war. Captured at or near Cold Harbor, Virginia, on or about June 6,1864. Confined at Point Lookout, Maryland, on or about June 15, 1864. Paroled at Point Lookout on March 14,1865. Received at Boulware's Wharf, James River, Virginia, March 16,1865, for exchange. Survived the war. [Was about 18 years of age at time of enlistment.](NC Troops, Vol. 14:179)

Best wishes,

--Derick

The Conover Cemetery is "my" cemetery. I live a five-minute walk away and enjoy the opportunity to get up there on my daily walk

Union Cross Friends Meeting Cemetery
I notice that you added the photos for Union Cross Cemetery so am hoping you are familiar with this cemetery's history.

Do you know if this was ever a Baptist cemetery? I've seen a number of references to Union Cross Baptist Cemetery in Yadkin Co. and do not see it as a cemetery at Find A Grave. There is Union Grove Baptist but not a Union Cross Baptist.
