Apple's Chapel has been my home church all my life except for about 10 years while living in other locations. I am a retired nurse and serve as historian of Apple's Chapel. Welcome one and all to join us for worship.

I started adding memorials from a listing of the cemetery compiled by Norma Gordon. This list is the results of a survey of the cemetery and includes all readable headstones prior to 1982. Any errors will be corrected upon request.
I have reviewed records of funerals in church office from 1987 to current. Also I have been through the cemetery making pictures of head/foot stones. Many markers are unreadable or missing.

References: The Browns of Apple's Chapel by Norma Brown Gordon, 1993; Apple Genealogy--A Genealogical Register of Apple Families Originating in North Carolina by Stephen W. Apple and Karen Booth Apple, 1992; and families of the church. Also funeral records in the church office. The Zimmerman Family History including--Pritchett/Busick/Zimmerman/Huffines/Chrismon. I have started using www.familysearch.org .

You're right. I didn't catch that he had two markers when I was doing the survey. I deleted the C F Clapp memorial and kept the one with the picture on it.

RE: James Henry Rufus Wyrick
Hi Peggy
I gathered Wyrick information for a friend of mine. She gave me her Wyrick records and the name I had was John. Smith was her husbands step-grandmother. I have since returned the records to her. I deleted my site since the other one was a few days earlier but will leave his name as John in my records. There were so many John Wyricks, in NC and VA where they came from. Their families are all mixed up on Ancestry. I went to Stokes and Guilford Co. gathering obits to sort them out and document...A side story; I have a friend of 40 years who lives in Columbia Co., FL. I was helping her with her family history and discovered that her gr-grandmother was a Wyrick from Guilford Co. who's parents moved to Indian Territory (later Oklahoma). Small world.
Keep up the great work.
Karen

RE: Jewel Turner
Yes, its the correct one. Her full legal name was actually Jewel Zenobia (hence, the "Z") Compton before she married my uncle, George Turner. Thank you so much again!!
