Bio and Links
Bio Photo I live in Marshall Co. AL, and have for some 55 years. Like most people on find a grave I love genealogy. I have been using this site for some time in finding my family. Someone asked me if I had ever thought about helping find a grave with taking pictures. I challenge you to join in this group of people. Find an old cemetery, and start taking pictures. These old stones are not going to hold up to nature.
My family list includes: Birdsong, Brumbeloe, Cobb, Cornelius, Culpepper, Davis, Dobbins, Edmonson, Garrett, Gilbreath, Gorham, Jordan, Larmore, Martin, Pruitt, Roden, and Sims.
You need to claim a photo request before you take a picture. This way no one else goes out of their way to take the picture and the photo request will be fulfilled. Please do not post a picture on a memorial that has been claimed by someone else. The photo request will not go away when you do this, and you do not get credit for the pictures.
I have chalked stones in the past, but due to rules brought to my attention I will not be able to chalk stones any more. Please see:

Fill free to send any edits you may need by using the edit button. I will be glad to transfer any memorial I have opened unless they are my family. Any picture I have taken you can copy, I just ask that you give find a grave the credit. This is a wonderful site for genealogy study.

Thank you so much for transferring her. You mentioned that: "My husband's great grandmother was Mary Camp Cornelius" Mary Camp Cornelius and my Great Grandfather Thomas Seaborn Camp were double first cousins. The Brothers Burrell (B M Camp) and Wilton (W G W C Camp) married sisters (Barzillia and Martha Jane).

Durwood/Durward Gunnells
Hi Nancy,

Thank you so much for contacting me about the Durwood Gunnells memorial in Brashers Chapel Cemetery.

I checked my home records and found that I had taken the information on Durwood Gunnells,[who is a descendant Benjamin Floyd Stanfield (1824 GA - 1871 AL,)] about 13 or 14 years ago, from a relative who is also a descendant of Benjamin Floyd Stanfield (1824 GA - 1871 AL)and had done extensive research on that line.

Benjamin Floyd Stanfield (1824 GA - 1871 AL) is the brother of my Ancestor, William Willis Moses Stanfield, Sr. (May 1832 GA - Oct. 13, 1903 AL).

Since I received your message, I have been doing some back tracking research on Durwood Gunnells and I found his and his wife's obituaries.

Nancy, I apologize for all the time and effort that you put into looking for his headstone, as he is not buried at Brashers Chapel Cemetery.

His obituary, that was published in "The Gadsden Times" on Monday, Feb. 10, 1975 gives his name as Durward F. (Pat) Gunnels and he is buried at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery in East Gadsden, Etowah County, Alabama. Also, the Social Security death index gives his birth and death dates as (12 June 1901 - Feb. 1975). According to his obituary he died on the date of his obituary listing, which was Feb. 10, 1975. I am not sure of the correct spelling of his first name, as his obituary had it as Durward, and his wife's obituary has their son and grandson as Durwood Gunnells and Durwood Gunnells,III. For the time being, I entered it as Durward, until I can find the correct spelling.

His wife, Flora Bell Hatley Gunnells, is also buried at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery and I made a memorial for her and linked them.

I changed the name of the Cemetery on the memorial that was at Brashers Chapel Cemetery, so he is now in the correct cemetery, under the name "Durward Franklin "Pat" Gunnells.

I deeply appreciate the time and effort you put into looking for him at Brashers Chapel and also for contacting me about him, as it gave me the chance to correct that error.

Until Later....God Bless,

RE: Birtie Collier Camp
I am sorry. That was an accident on my part. B.M. Burrell Marion was her husband. I am new to trying to add info here. I was mainly trying to add her mother/name/and birth/death years. Brazillia was my Great Great Grandmother. The last record I have for her is from october 1918 drawing her Confederate widows pension.
