Bio Photo ATTENTION: I have completed my move to Florida (Youngstown, Florida, to be exact) and it will still be a couple months until I get back into the full swing of things on findagrave. Because of this situation, any updates, corrections, transfers, etc. may not be completed in a timely manner. Please bear with me as my wife and I move in and become more familiar with our new surroundings.

As a result of this relocation, I will no longer be available for Pennsylvania photographs or research and it will take quite some time to become as familiar with Bay County, Florida and surrounding areas.

========================

Born and raised in Apollo, Pa., which was the epitome of "Small Town USA," in the 1950's. Graduated from College, taught High School Biology for 6 years and then I grew up and joined the Navy. My goal was to Serve our country and see the world at the same time and then, after one 4 year hitch, I would resume a Teaching career. Things sometimes do not work out as planned...In 1997, after spending 22 years in the Service, I retired, back to my home, in Armstrong County, PA. Retirement has enabled me to work and concentrate on the main love of my life, which is my Family and Friends and, also enabled me the time to pursue my addiction to our family history and genealogy. There has also been ample time, left over, to engage in the secondary love of my life, which is fishing. Now, there had always been an interest in family history and genealogy and these fishing pursuits of boating, canoeing and tramping the streams, in search of the wily Trout and Bass has led me to many cemeteries, which are located in out of the way places. It is to the point...and, sometimes to the chagrin and frustration of my wife, where I cannot pass by a cemetery without "exploring a little bit." Thankfully I have married a wonderful and understanding wife, who, in spite of her seeming, sometimes frustration, just winks and grins whenever I tell her about the discovery of a "New" Cemetery...and then admonishes me to be sure not to miss anyone's stone. (As if I would, Eh?)
Many of the cemeteries, in this historic area of the country, are very old...some are grown over and a lot of markers are in advanced disrepair and are illegible. I have come to believe that we are losing our heritage and history, by allowing this to happen. After discovering Find-a-Grave, it has become easy to combine my hobbies with family history and the recording of the old cemeteries in my home area.
It is my goal to record as many of the small church or family cemeteries, as possible, in Armstrong County and adjoining counties, before I am too old to get out of the rocking chair. It is a guess there are still a few years, to go, before that occurs: I hope!

Your memorial # 5421632 and my #124785062 for my brother Wendell are for the same person. I was wondering if there is any way possible for you to delete yours since I have all of the information on mine. I don't even know if it's possible Check it out and tell me what you think. Dennis

I believe this to be Sarah Rea Wilkins, the second wife of Truman London. His first wife Sally Mariah Slawson died in 1842.

In this book reference above Mandana Townsend is
spelled Mandanu (should be Mandana) Could she have been named for the sister of her mother
Polly Stoughton daughter of a Gustavus Stoughton?

You have entered Gustavus Stoughton into Find A Grave and I
was hoping you might have more information? Do
you have marriage records that might have a Polly Stoughton to Epenetus Townsend? Possibly married Quebec, Canada, New York, or Ohio?
