When I was 8 years old I found out that my grandmother was adopted. I was fascinated and wanted to find out what her name "really" was and who gave her away. I just didn't know how to go about it.|
After graduating from college (Fire Up Chips!), I moved to the Washington, DC area for my job and eventually took up genealogy. Fortunately, it was a cheap hobby for a much-taken-advantage-of-not-paid-well hotel intern. It didn't cost much to take the metro into DC and spend the day in the National Archives.
I'm back in Michigan now and after 23 years of wandering through cemeteries, going through court records, ordering birth and death certificates, reading hundreds upon hundreds of obituaries, and questioning relatives...I am no closer to finding my grandmother's parents than when I was 8 years old.
But now I'm able to share all the photos I've taken over the years!
Grandma passed away in 1999 without knowing the answer to this mystery and she was fine with it. She adored her parents and saw no reason to find her other family.
I'm still optimistic.

Thankyou for making the additions to the Memorial page of Alonzo Charles Beck. He was a Brother to my Great Great Grandmother, Margaret Ann (Beck) Cogley.

In the Glade Run Cemetery for Benjamin Irwin 1776-1850, you have asked the question "husband of Catherine?" He was the husband of Margaret Ann Marshall 1786-1840 and they had a daughter Catherine W. Irwin Wilson 1818-1873.

Hello - I saw you had posted a picture from East Mahoning Cemetery and I was wondering if you had any photos of headstones from there. Specifically Cyrella Treese (my great grandmother)

|DEHAVEN||Thelma (DeHaven) Parizack|
Thelma DeHaven's name is not listed as a daughter of Albert & Elizabeth DeHaven. She was my mother Pearle DeHaven's younger sister. Aunt Thelma was born in Bennington, Blair Co, PA on 6/21/1918 & died 12/6/1979. She is buried with her husband Charles in St. Patrick's cemetery in Gallitzin. I had submitted info to Find A Grave at one time but no longer do so due to visual loss.
Thank you for adding my Aunt Thelma's info to FindAGrave.

|Brad Hall Sr||Valley View Cemetery|
Can you please tell me where in New Castle PA the Valley View Cemetery is? I have some photos I would like to go and take at this cemetery. Brad Hall at: email@example.com

I think that perhaps you have wrong death date identified for her. You have 1889, but a closer look at the headstone it looks like 1869. 1869 would fit better with the birth of her son in 1903.

I am writing you to see if you are an actual relative of mine. My grand parents were John and Margaret Holmes and I just discoverd the site of the Union Dale cemtetary. My cousin Judy led me to it.
I never knew John and Margaret, they both died before I was born and I am 66. But my mom, Ruth, was the youngest daughter of four girls and two boys.
Mom died four years ago.
I was so glad to find graves for grandma and grandpa and would like so much more information.
Are you a relative? If so, could I find out more? thank you so much. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org.
I can send my phone number and address to you if needed. thanks, Pat Russell (maiden name was Boyer)
