I was born in Las Vegas, NV. My father helped build Hoover Dam from 1931-1936. I entered most of the graves in the Milford Cemetery. I also entered all of the Milford Black Cemetery names that I could find by going through death certificates for Ellis County, TX. I hope something that I entered will help you in your search. So many of you out there have helped me. I love doing genealogy. I like the challenge of finding families and linking them together. I will gladly add information to anyone I have entered. |

I was just wondering how your related to the Nelsons. My great-great-grandmother was Virginia Nelson Rose, d/o John S Nelson and Alice J Johnson.

PS I did find a marriage for Charles and Mattie Leary on Familysearch.com. May 14, 1895 in Hill Co., TX. Mattie Leary next married Samuel Erasmus "Dink" Phillips December 12, 1901 in Hill Co., TX. Her third husband was Elias Huntsman "Bud" Sevier who she married February 25, 1920 in Hill Co., TX. So her names match to Monte LeVerne's obit.

Hi, I saw the discrepancy before. The only thing that I can suggest is that someone (Charlene) is not being truthful about her birthdate. I saw the censuses and Charlene has to have been born before 1900. She is not in the Texas Birth Index but I guess that is not necessarily 100 %. I made a note in my data about this and unfortunately, I can find absolutely no proof that she was born before 1900. This is the note that I made:
NOTE: The given date of birth for Charlene Wesley Mozley is 1904 but she does not appear in the Texas birth index which begins in 1903. Her father died in 1899. There is a child that appears in the 1900 census who appears to be Charlene. I believe that her actual birth date is 1899 rather than 1904. There is no proof either way.
I do know that she is the daughter of Charles W. "Charlie" Mozley because she named as one of the recipients listed in the distribution of the will of Zachariah Taylor Mozley. Her daughter, Monte LeVerne Mozley is actually the recipient in the final distribution since Charlene died in 1934. The only way that either could have been a recipient is if she were the child or grandchild of one of Zack's siblings. Her father was named in condicils of Zack's will in 1926 and 1929. Zack died in 1931. I think the final distribution took place in 1936. He was in contact with his sibs, nieces and nephews etc in AL, GA, and TX and often visited them according to a cousin who is now deceased-Barney Mozley who died in Dallas in 2004 at age 92. He would have been one of Charlie's nephews-and he did not know what happened to Charlie, by the way. He had just heard that he died in Wood Co., TX. (Maybe in a train accident, but I can't remember for sure now).
Anyway, this is way too long. I believe that the info is correct even if it doesn't add up. Charlene died post childbirth and lost a child to drowning I beleive altho I could not verify all the info. This is her obit:
Obit for Mrs. Charline Mosley Becker
The Odess News-Times (The Odessa American)
Friday, March 30, 1934
MRS. BECKER DIES TUESDAY MORNING
Mrs. Charline Mosely Becker, 30, died in her home here, Tuesday, after a brief illness. She died early Tuesday morning and funeral services were conducted that afternoon at the First Methodist Church.
Mrs. Becker was born in Milford, Ellis Co., TX, March 20, 1904.*
Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Mattie Sevier, husband, R. W. Becker, and little daughter, Montie La Verne.
Hope this helps the confusion. Her birthdate being incorrect is the only explanation that I have.

This is Tess Beshara and I requested an edit with the button and it came back as done but it is not. If you could please put Sgt in the Prefix of his name that would be great. I tried to do it but it came back as no change. Thank you so much, Tess Beshara
|Helen Dearing||Adding Information|
Angie, thank you for your love and care in adding memorials. But thank you especially for your love and care in being willing to add information to those whose memorials you manage. It is a ver difficult process to get information added to a memorial if the manager is not willing to do so. Those of us doing family research, and especially family members, appreciate your work.
