Note: I am still behind on doing corrections right now as other real-life issues have taken priority. Please allow me some time (not more than a month) to complete them. Thank you.
Greetings! I am a F.A.G. volunteer for Atchison County, KS. If you have any questions about cemeteries here, feel free to email me and I will try my best to answer.
I am also working on getting the cemeteries from surrounding counties entered / corrected.
Sometimes, real life gets in the way and I may not get something done within a few days... if you haven't heard from me, or a change hasn't been made, after 2 weeks, please send me a reminder.
Please read all notes as they are important...
Thank you and have a great day :)
Most of my memorials were created from the 'Kansas Room burial listings' that are listed in the 'References Used' section below.
Most errors in my memorials are due to transcription errors in that list. I am in the process of correcting the errors from there but it will take a long time and a lot of research.
I am more than happy to make corrections... just be polite about it.
Please do not leave me corrections on this profile page. See below for instructions on how to send corrections... that is the preferred way for me (and for Find A Grave, see FAQs). Thank you.
Please use the Suggest a Correction link on the EDIT tab on a memorial if you'd like to send me questions or suggestions. Any left on my profile page will be ignored.
If I have created a memorial for your immediate family member and you would like it transferred to you, please use the Edit link located in the upper right hand corner of each memorial and the Suggest a Correction (S.A.C.) option.
I have no problem transferring memorials... just ask (and use the S.A.C. link).
Also, if you find any errors I have made, please use the EDIT tab on the memorials to send me a Suggest a Correction. I appreciate people helping me fix errors.
Also please send any additional information you have via the same method and I will add it to the memorial.
All 'Date of Death' fields that were originally from the above sources (books / website) are actually the burial dates. Most cemeteries only record the burial date as that is what they have in their records.
Please let me know when the burial date is incorrect and you know the Death date. Thank you.

|John Stoutimore||RE: re: William Otis obituary...|
Franz, you should re-read the Find A Grave rules (on posting a pre-1922 obituary). They say not to post an obituary UNLESS you have permission. The rules go on to state that, in general, obituaries published before 1922 are in the public domain (meaning original copyrights no longer apply) amd one doesn't NEED permission. But if copyrights DID apply; there's no difference between posting an actual obituary, and transcribing it word-for-word and posting the transcription. Lots of Find A Grave rule-citers are misinformed on this.
Thank you so much for the transfer!
Best to you,

|Lorrie Verboort||Burton Hard in Oak Hill Cemetery, Atchison, KS|
"Greetings...I did not see any stones in that section for this person. There are quite a few 'flat' areas where no stones are, so it's very possible that either a stone is there and buried or it's unmarked (never a stone or a stone was 'lost').Will check again with record keeper to see if I can get the plot marked for future photo.Have a great weekend :)FranzBAtchison, KS"
Thanks so much for trying to locate Burton's burial, Franz! I live on the west coast, so searching for it myself might never have been possible. Best of luck in your personal searches! Lorrie

Franz, can you give me a list of your memorials you manage in Sumner Cemetery? Then I can look them up in the book to see if there is an obit or additional info to send to you.
|June Ford||cain/willis families|
I left the previous message rather hastily, and now realize that not only is this Richard Willis too young to be my relative, but it looks as if these Willises are black. I'd still like to hear from interested parties - my family was in this area and some connection may well exist, especially since I suspect my family was Native American (to what degree I'm trying to learn), and sadly, at least one ancestor who married my Willis ancestor was son of a slave owner from MO. There is obviously a lot of history here!
|June Ford||Cain family|
I have read somewhere that there was a connection between Cain & Willis families. If anyone knows of a connection between those 2 families in this cemetery, I'd like to hear from you - I am quite sure that Richard J. Willis is son of my ancestor Catherine Willis, and wish I knew more about that branch of the family. I do know quite a bit about them after they came to MO pre-1830, but having trouble making connections & don't even know who Catherine's husband was!
|Janet Davis||RE: Sumner Cemetery|
I would be glad to do that. I'm a little backed up myself right now, so maybe by the time I get to that project you will have time to mess with it, too!

|Mark Johnson||Jennie Page|
I have no direct proof that Jennie is buried in Sugar Creek. Sugar Creek Cemetery records on the internet show an infant buried in C-13-07 plot which belongs to Jennie's father Charles Moore Page. Jennie only appears in the 1880 census having been born in Mar 1880. No one can find any further record on Jennie. Do you know who is buried in C-13-07? Tom DeBerry who took pictures and sent me any he took of the Page's didn't send me anything on C-13-07. If you believe Jennie is not buried in Sugar Creek I'll gladly remove her. Thanks for checking out the names.
