|Bio and Links|
I am a native resident of Dayton, Ohio, son of Myron Dale and Emma Lucille (Smith) Poling. My favorite hobby has always been genealogy, but I started seriously studying my roots in 1993. I am single and retired after 30 combined years of service with the Montgomery County Clerk of Courts & Prosecuting Attorney offices. I enjoy entering information at Find A Grave. I have completed six cemeteries; Vernon Baptist Cemetery, Clinton County, Ohio; St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, North Star, Ohio; Roxanna Cemetery, Roxanna, Ohio; Mount Holly Cemetery, Mount Holly, Ohio; McKnight Cemetery, Spring Valley, Ohio; Spring Valley Cemetery, Spring Valley, Ohio; and Sections A, B & C of Woodland Cemetery, Xenia, Ohio. I have a full subscription to ancestry.com, and access to other sources. I like to research a persons name and add a small bio where possible. Please contact me with corrections / suggestions / links for my entries. Also contact me if you would like me to transfer a relatives memorial page to you. |
Personal Note: I do not see Find A Grave as an internet game, trying to get high numbers of memorials & pictures added. I have seen people who have been a member of Find A Grave for 1 year and have added 100,000 memorials. Then when you review their memorials I find names mis-spelled, birth & death dates wrong, either no places of birth & death or they are listed in the bio instead of the proper fields provided by Find A Grave. Then I see pictures upside down, part of the stone not in the picture, pictures on wrong graves. Then there are pictures that haven't been cropped and you see more grass than stone and you can't even read the stone. I have been a member of Find A Grave for over 8 years and I average 14 memorials weekly. I take time to research the person to see if I can add middle names, maiden names, full birth & death dates, places of birth & death, and a small bio. My advice is to please slow down & proof read your work before clicking save. Yes, I do make mistakes and appreciate you pointing them out to me. My mistakes are because I am human and not because I am in a hurry to get a high number of memorials & pictures added. Also, if you take time to proof read your work, and do a little research on the person you are creating a memorial page for, you won't receive dozen upon dozens of Suggest A Correction e-mails.
Thank you for taking time to read my bio.

Could you link Mary Cox Smith Coates Kyles (Memorial #78468307) to Simeon Carey Coates' Memorial# 69079484. She's his mother.

Not a problem, I removed it. A lot of people don't know that the all markers in the cemetery have been photographed and posted to memorial's. After telling some of those requesting photo's and removing the request a week later they do another photo request, so this generic photo is a nice way of telling them their isn't one, plus away to keep track they have been inform.

I'm vexed as to why you copied the same photo of the "Sugar Grove Cemetery entrance", and then you tagged a redundant photo to my Memorial #48269506.
This is keeping me from adding a unique Photo. Photos for EACH and EVERY Cemetery Entrance are available for every Memorial.
I strive to add ONLY UNIQUE information concerning the information for each of the deceased, Personal MEMORIALS. An iron gate is not unique. Please use the built-in Hot-Link for YOUR generic images, such as which are available, so that I can add my images.

Hi - I thank you for the transfer, but it wasn't necessary. I will take good care of it, though and try to link as much family as possible. Thank you again, and I so agree with your profile statement! Pat

Hi Mr. Poling, thank you for transferring management of Isabelle, Thomas and Susanna's memorials to me. Isabelle may have been trying to start a new life when she moved from her native Virginia/West Virginia. I wish I knew why she decided to settle in Greene County, Ohio. She had no kin there that I'm aware of.

Thanks John, for doing the memorials for my great grand aunt, her husband Isaac and their daughter Kathryn (my cousin)
|Carol Strain||my grandfather Charles Russel Strain|
Hello, Mr. Poling.
I accidentally found this web site while hunting for an out of print business book at Google.
I don't think you are a relative, so I wonder how people are posting this information at this site?
Charles Russel Strain was my grandfather. I think Russell had two l's, but I must go back and check.
I am looking for an Elizabeth Strain. I found a listing on a census record that listed her as Revolutionary War Widow. She came to Greene County Ohio after her husband died. That is all I know. I have never done genealogy and must learn to find these things.
How do you transfer a page to a family member?
Thank you for your time in taking pictures and posting it.
Carol E. Strain
Thank you so much for the transfer.
