Obituary of Johann Hubert Mattheisen
Hubert Mattheisen Funeral Tomorrow

Hubert Mattheisen, 85, sixty years a resident of Swift County, died at his home in this city at 2 o’clock Monday morning, April 6, after an illness of several days. Death was attributed to complications incident to old age. Funeral services will be held tomorrow morning, Wednesday, April 8, at the Church of The Visitation, Danvers, at 9 o’clock, the Rev. Fr. Francis Fairley officiating.

Hubert Mattheisen was born January 1, 1851, at Desseldorf, Germany, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Mattheisen. He came to this country with his parents when a youth of 20. He was married 58 years ago, May 28 next, and resided in Chicago and St. Louis prior to taking up residence here. In St. Louis he worked in a spice factory before moving to Swift county 60 years ago, engaging in farming until he moved to Benson 28 years ago, when he retired.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, Louis of Danvers, Andrew of Walker; four daughters, Mrs. J. F. McGee (Josephine), Mrs. Geo. Hennessy (Margaret), Mrs. Pat Maher (Susan), all of Marysland township, and Mrs. Anthony R. Robertson (Frances), Arco; 41 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, two brothers, Joseph of this city and Andrew of Danvers; two sisters, Mrs. Kate Langsdorf of Ontario, Wis., and Mrs. Anna Miller of Atchison, Kansas.
