To keep weeds out of the beautiful Find A Grave garden....
First, I don't link to Burial Unknown Site Memorials as BU shouldn't be on FAG according to the guidelines of the website. The first criteria for making a memorial on FAG is having the burial site, as this is a grave registration site. When you made a BU, you have a chance of losing the memorial to the member who "Find A Grave" in the cemetery.
Second, I may or may not transfer outside of the guidelines to an established member. It is my choice. Long-time hard working-members, who are busy in surveying cemeteries and taking grave photos impress me more than someone who is collecting others' memorials for their personal goal or waiting for someone to find the burial sites for their numerous memorials made with an "unknown burial site".
Lastly, there are no duplicated memorials on FAG. If I find a duplicated memorial while researching this site, there is 99% chance that it will be deleted or merged eventually.
You may disagree with the guidelines but remember the guy who started Find A Grave wrote them. He is the boss.
Many of the memorials transferred to me were done without my request for them. These memorials have found a home and will be nurtured.
Also, thank you for all the flowers and tokens left on my family's memorial. They are all sincerely appreciated by me and my family.
Remember to check on the Discussion Forums here. They are very newsy, helpful and interesting!

|Cemetery Sister 1||RE: Thank you!|
You're welcome. I prefer to transfer to people who have interest in the memorial.
if I have a duplicate, please let me know and I will be glad to delete. For some reason, it took some time for a couple to delete. I am sorry if that was inconvenient for you, but it was not my doing. Once I hit the delete button, I thought they were deleted.
Linda, you have an interpretation of some ideas and that is wonderful. Just remember that not everyone has the same interpretations as you. I have confidence in my interpretations and I value others concepts, misguided as they are. By your interpretation, neither my husband nor my son, my only child whom I lost in a tragic accident, are entitled to a memorial on Find a Grave. Surely, you cannot believe that is the spirit of Find a Grave. You seem to be well versed in the guidelines, so if you read them again, you will find that Find a Grave believes that everyone deserves a memorial. Wouldn't you agree that my husband and my son deserve a memorial?

Thanks, I was not aware that they would delete it unless someone complained.

I did not see what I shared and seem to have forgotten. I think he is kin to one of my facebook friends Lacey Corbin.
Thanks for the kind words.

Thanks! Hopefully I fixed it correctly. I see Cora's memorial links to Henry's (showing relationship), but Henry's doesn't link to Cora's. Is that something you can fix?

Thanks for the heads up, I've added a note to the memorial and reported the flower.
As for a stone in Maine...I've got no clue if there is a cenotaph there, or if the stone was moved along with her, so can't be much help there.

I won't say too much here. I'll just say he had 3 head injuries that also messed him up. Thank you for writing me. I appreciate it. God bless!
|Lori Hager||RE: Edit Message for James (Culpepper) Hager|
I see what you mean about my father's name not showing up in a search for either Culpepper or Hager, so I deleted the "(Culpepper)" leaving only Hager. I added a notation in the bio stating he was born Culpepper. I did this for my uncle and grandfather, as well.
I appreciate the original intention of Find a Grave as being a place to record burials and gravestone photos, however, I believe it has grown to be so much more. Find a Grave is an invaluable tool for genealogy research and if rules such as not cleaning off a gravestone prior to photographing it and including only what is etched on the stone on the person's memorial page were strictly followed, so much information would be lost.
Basic etiquette rules such as respecting someone else's photo request claim, not creating duplicates, etc are very important in maintaining the quality of this site.
I have added thousands of photos to FG and the feedback I receive from family and descendents is immensely rewarding.
|ET||RE: Rachel Jackson's memorial|
You went off without all the facts. I notice that you still have not addressed this.
The original Find A Grave memorial was for "Rachel Jackson." I was looking for "Rachel Donelson Jackson." Yeah, she is my distant aunt. But anybody who lives in Tennessee knows her maiden name. When I didn't find one with Donelson in it, I created it. Later I discovered what appeared to be duplicates.
I am the one who edited to original
Rachel NMU Jackson to add her maiden name. Only then did they become "duplicates."
The name "Jerubial" has two spellings. No match came up when I searched for Jerubael.
I searched for Vitruvius Jackson Kennedy, didn't find it, and created it. (no kinship) I never connected it to V. J. Kennedy. I don't consider those to be duplicates.
My personal family was less than 12 profiles. The other 210 were not.
You went off without all the facts. And your 'help' came with a resounding scolding. That is not help.
I don't plan on contributing any edits or photographs.
