Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a bit of a fan of history and I love the history you find in cemeteries. My favorites are the old pioneer cemeteries of the west.

For those of you that are looking for forgotten relatives, loved ones, friends and family, I just want to say to you that I do what I do here on Find A Grave for you. No one should be forgotten! We all may not be rich, or powerful, or have invented great things but we all made a difference in some way and we deserve to be remembered for the differences we made. If just by creating a memorial page I feel that I have done something to remember that person and that they did live and that they did matter.

The information on the memorials that I have added is only as good as the information I had to work with from the beginning. I am sure that there are many mistakes and I will correct every one that I can but if fellow contributor finds something wrong that still needs to be corrected, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Transfers: If you are interested, just ask! I am not hung up on the findagrave.com policies, all that is important to me is that you are better able to add to the memorial than I am. You don't have to be directly related, just willing and able to make the page better.

Photos: There is no need to ask permission to use the photos that I post unless it is to be for commercial purposes. I take these photographs for you so please, use them as you need to and all that I ask is that you source and credit them properly.

To all the Find a Grave photographers out there: if you have a picture to post that is better than one that I have posted, please do and then let me know. If I agree, I will gladly remove mine in order to avoid cluttering up the memorial page.

Someday I know I'll have my own headstone and if I am lucky enough, this is the epitaph that will be on it:

The Measure of a Man

Not "How did he die?"
But, "How did he live?"
Not "What did he gain?"
But, "What did he give?"
These are the units
to measure the worth
of a man, as a man,
regardless of birth.
Not "What was his station?
But, "Had he a heart?"
And "How did he play
his God given part?"
Was he ever ready
with a word of good cheer,
to bring back a smile,
to banish a tear?'
Not "What was his church?"
Nor "What was his creed?"
But, "Had he befriended
those really in need?"
Not "What did the sketch
in the newspaper say?"
But "How many were sorry
when he passed away!"

But, at the end of the day, if all my headstone reads is "He was a good man" then, I will be happy with that too!

If you're still reading, maybe you'd like to stop by and say Hi! to very special friend. I lost her some time ago but she is still missed everyday, Belle West.

I found some great information on how to take a picture of a headstone. I am passing this site along because I feel that a good, clear picture is always what the viewer wants. Not something that is just good enough. The site is How To Get Great Photos For FindAGrave.

Thanks!

Thank You so much for the quick edit of these memorials. Now I realize that they are all relatives of mine and so should have the A put back in and see if I can find out when and who dropped the A in our name. Thank You Betty Wever.
Also I need permission to add these to my family in Ancestry.

Thank you for the picture. I would like to ask permission to use it in my family history and on Ancestry.com. I would, of course, credit you with the photo.

Thank you for the work you do, it is appreciated.

I am a volunteer like you. The owner of this cemetery promises to call the police on any Find A Grave volunteer.
You can always request again, but I promise you that the photo(s) you seek can be easily and quickly and reliably procured another way.
There has been great success with the San Luis Obispo County Genealogical Society. They completed exhaustive photographing of headstones at San Luis Cemetery in the past 5 years, and they will share them with you.
You can email a request for a photo of the headstone(s) you are looking for, by doing the following, and they will respond promptly:
Address your email to
slocgs@gmail.com
Put in the subject line
San Luis Cemetery Headstone photo

Give them the name and birth and death dates, or as much as you know.
Ask them to send a picture of the headstone, and tell them how you are related or what your interest is in this person.
They will appreciate that. This information may only be used in genealogical research.
They will email you within a day or two with an attached photo(s), if it exists.
I will ask that your request be removed (so others arenít discouraged), now that you have a very reliable and quick way to achieve your goal. If there is any problem, please let me know.
As a reference here is the website for the index for all the burials and headstones at San Luis Cemetery through 2010. http://www.slocgs.org/pdf-files/SLO-Cem-Location.pdf
Best wishes.

Patricia Cole(Gerlock)
Effie May Smith Daniel Payne
I already have a memorial for her that I did May 2009. Her granddaughter had sent me an e-mail, the granddaughter's name is Dorothy Rediker and she is from Tucson, AZ.. Anyway she said that there were two memorials for her grandmother, so I went back and deleted the name of Daniel and just made it Payne. So, if you could delete your memorial for Effie Payne it would be appreciated.
