Bio and Links
Bio Photo Lately I've been a little obsessed with adding names to the Washburn Street Cemetery in Scranton, Pennsylvania. I've found several ancestors buried there and then I read about the cemetery, I just couldn't help but want to add to it.
(I'm adding this info based on both Death Certificates and obituaries.)

PS - I sort of hate the fact that Davis and Davies are so interchangeable! It's annoying.

I live in Colorado and I'm very interested in family history. The whole reason I joined here was to find my ancestors. I love going to cemeteries and taking pictures. Many of my contributions are based off the photographs I take at these cemeteries.

Sometimes I have trouble reading the dates in the pictures - if you can help me you can click the Edit tab at the top and send me a message. I want to get it right! I like linking family members and adding any info you may have for me. :D

I'm more than happy to transfer memorials to family members!

The one nearest and dearest to my heart, my daddy, was the reason I joined. You can always stop by and leave flowers. <3

I helped Beth in Colorado to add all the folks in Lakeside Cemetery in Canon City. It took months, wasn't easy, but it was worth it!

My main interest names are:

A note about my photos - any headstone photos that I took, you have my permission to use on Ancestry or even your own family history pages, all I ask is that you note that I(Courtney Birkes) took the photo. Thank you :)

Spring is here, so I am out again taking photos. Please let me know if I make any memorials that are your family and you would like a transfer.
Thanks for your help with edits.

I am hoping that you will consider transferring Catherine Rees Lewis to me. She is my 2x great grandmother and I already did the memorial for her spouse (Jenkin). My membership #48361215 I appreciate your time.

RE: David S Evans
I know the Bynon/Beynon's were in Lackawanna county at least in 1885 when my husband's grandfather was born. Daniel Morgan Bynon son of William and Theodosia Evans Bynon.(David's daughter) Most of the history from Lackawanna County for the Bynons I haven't found yet. With the 1890 census gone and Daniel Morgan Bynon born in 1885 I couldn't find them. I think I even have family buried in Washburn Cemetery which is Thorne and Burnetts. I was there once many years ago.
Thank you so much for all your help. I really appreciate it.

RE: David S Evans
Hi Courtney,
Thank you so much for your quick response. I know there are many different Evan's families. On my side there are at least 4 different ones. I saw David's death certificate and I also have his obituary. He was born in Penrdaran, Merthyr, South Wales. He was my husband's great great grandfather. His daughter Theodosia married William Bynon and they resided in Forty Fort. I wish they put the first name of the wife down but I know many times they didn't. His other daughter was Mrs. David Powell and Mrs David Thomas. Most likely his family were buried in the Washburn Cemetery. Any help would be appreciated.

Have a nice day,
Beth Bynon

David S Evans
Hi Courtney,
I found my husband's gr gr gr grandfather David S Evans that you posted. Is there any way you can find out if his wife is buried next to him. I don't know her name as she was only listed as Mrs. David Evans in his obituary. Any information you could give me is greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your help.

RE: Newkirk
Thank you for the married name of Irene Winters. It is more than I had. I am always hoping to make a Newkirk connection somewhere.

Hi Courtney,

Caroline Winters married Myron Newkirk. The Newkirk's are my family. Find A Grave 6511211. Would you know anything about this family or what happened to daughter Irene Winters? Are you related to the Winters/Newkirks in any way. Any help is appreciated.
