I am a 6th generation Colorado resident. My gg grandfather, Johannes "John" Bender, came out to Colorado from Wisconsin in 1859. Around 1872, his in-laws, my ggg grandparents, John & Hannah Hammond, left Wisconsin to join their daughter and John in Freshwater, Park Co., Colorado. My wife and I owned a bicycle business in Lakewood, Colorado before retiring in 2008. We enjoy traveling, especially genealogy inspired trips!|

They are now connected and only connected once. Thanks. I'm sending you an e-mail regarding further information on both families.

Thanks for taking over their Find A Grave memorials. Just received a notice of Edit accepted but see an error on both memorials. For both of them they appear twice as spouses. Each link leading to the same place so links are duplicates.

Thanks. They are my great great grandparents.

Thanks for the information about Adolph Arnold. I believe he is of historical significance, and after the holiday I will submit the information and request he be given "Famous" status.

Hi Doug --
I'm sorry to say that there is no headstone or information for George Hammond. I had walked that section of the cemetery before, but just checked with the cemetery office to make sure I hadn't missed his headstone. They checked their records, confirmed that the grave is unmarked, and have no further information (including dates) on George. They said the only thing their records say are "received by Waukesha County." Based on the graves around him, the year of death would have probably been in the 1890s.
I also checked the Waukesha Freeman and could find nothing on a George Hammond.
Sorry I couldn't be more help. I'll ask the memorial's creator to mark the grave as unmarked.
