Bio and Links
Bio Photo Lately I've been a little obsessed with adding names to the Washburn Street Cemetery in Scranton, Pennsylvania. I've found several ancestors buried there and then I read about the cemetery, I just couldn't help but want to add to it.
(I'm adding this info based on both Death Certificates and obituaries.)

PS - I sort of hate the fact that Davis and Davies are so interchangeable! It's annoying.

I live in Colorado and I'm very interested in family history. The whole reason I joined here was to find my ancestors. I love going to cemeteries and taking pictures. Many of my contributions are based off the photographs I take at these cemeteries.

Sometimes I have trouble reading the dates in the pictures - if you can help me you can click the Edit tab at the top and send me a message. I want to get it right! I like linking family members and adding any info you may have for me. :D

I'm more than happy to transfer memorials to family members!

The one nearest and dearest to my heart, my daddy, was the reason I joined. You can always stop by and leave flowers. <3

I helped Beth in Colorado to add all the folks in Lakeside Cemetery in Canon City. It took months, wasn't easy, but it was worth it!

My main interest names are:

A note about my photos - any headstone photos that I took, you have my permission to use on Ancestry or even your own family history pages, all I ask is that you note that I(Courtney Birkes) took the photo. Thank you :)

Alma Reese Harris
Hi Nicole,
Thank-you so much for posting Alma Reese Harris memorial to the Washburn St. Cemetery in Scranton. I have been looking for her date of death, and it has eluded me. She was my husband's Great Grandmother. I would like to know if you would transfer her to me, please? Her number at Find A Grave is 14455827, and mine is 47181695. Thank-you very much for adding her name to the site. I've been searching for years and have not found her name on any other lists at that cemetery. I just sent a link to connect her to her mother and father. You are also administrator to her mother, Mary Ann Reese, 134687483. Since you mentioned Davis in your bio, I thought I'd let you know her maiden name was also Davis. Which was on her death certificate. Thank-you for all that you do. We appreciate your hard work!

Hi Courtney, I was able to locate the grave of Mary and Fred Aldrich, however I haven't been able to find a marker for Wilford. I'll keep looking.

Fred Cantonwine at Centerville Cemetery
Hi! again, Courtney, sorry about all the confusion on Fred "Cobb" Cantonwine. When I asked you to transfer the listing that you had made for him to me (in the Centerville cemetery), it turns out that I had another listing for him buried in the Fairview cemetery in Salida. I tried to delete the listing that you transferred to me but I got a message saying that you would have to be the one to delete it since you were the original listing person.

This is the one to be deleted that lists first you and then me as the owners.

Can you let me know when it's been deleted so I can move on to finding other duplications. Looks as if I should stop doing findagrave input during the night . . . too many mistakes!!! Ann

Frederick Earl Cantonwine
Hi! Courtney, could you please transfer Frederick Cantonwine to me. I have about 200 Cantonwine family members currently posted to Findagrave and just recently discovered your listing for Frederick. Ann Koch

I was in touch with you a while back re. your incredible task of photographing all of the Lakeside cemetery headstones and posting them to Findagrave. My grandmother (Flora Lamb) McGlothlin is buried there, as well as a brother who died at birth (Joseph Regis Koch). Some years ago my sister and I spent many hours searching for family there . . . this was back before the cemetery records were computerized, so it was quite a challenge.

Needless to say, your efforts are appreciated by many who now visit that cemetery to find headstones so much more easily.

Daniel Beynon
This is my gr gr grandmother Elizabeth Bradshaw Watkins Beynon d 1924. She was buried in Washburn cemetery with her 1st husband Thomas Watkins and Daniel was buried with his 1st wife Mary Elizabeth Davis. I have a picture of my gr gr grandmother s heastone with the correct info from Washburn cemetery. Would you be so kind to do this correction.

RE: Lampmans in Arkona
I didn't find them the first time. On my second trip today, after locating other gravestones on the same lot but different Ranges, there was this tell monument. I don't know how I missed it before. Anyway, I feel glad that I was able to find it for you.
