I have been researching my family since 1971 and descend from many of the founding families of the Ouachita Parish area. I think this is a great website to preserve the information sometimes only available on the cemetery markers, as well as a place to post photos of past generations for everyone to enjoy. I hope many more will join me in recording and sharing!
J.E Fike You have a photo of my grandfather's headstone posted. His name is J.E. Fike (Jesse Elmer Fike) and is buried in New Salem cemetery in Rayville, Richland Parish, Louisiana. First, I'd like to thank you for posting it. I was able to show it to my mother (his daughter) and it meant a great deal to her. He died by accident when she was five years old and it's been many, many years since she's been to his gravesite. If you think you are of some relation to him, I'll be happy to fill in any blanks I can for you....thanks again!
