Jonathan BERGER
Good afternoon, I reviewed your posting for Jacob BERGER with great interest! I have been researching the BERGER family for some time with little success and was excited about the cemetery listings! I am descended from Jonathan BERGER who sold the land to Jacob. I've been trying to take Jonathan's family back further one generation. Based on your research, is it possible that he and Jacob might be brothers--Jonathan was born 20 Oct 1799 and died in 1882 in Watsontown, buried over at Follmer Church. I used to live in Potts Grove but have since moved to Oklahoma so am trying to do everything long distance. Many thanks for your response and consideration! Luanne Rishel Eisler

RE: Memorial# #46500042
Her tombstone is worn and for whatever reason I'm having trouble getting a decent picture, but I believe it reads:

Elisabeth Balliet
Geborne Jung u. gattin
von
Abraham Balliet
Geb. den 1 Juni 1787
lebte in Ehe 49 Jahr
zeuge 8 Kinder
Starb 5 Mai 1858
Alter 70J 11M u. 4T

Which I translate as:

Elisabeth Balliet, nee Jung and wife of Abraham Balliet. Born 1 June 1787. Lived in marriage 49 years which produced 8 children. Died 5 May 1858. Aged 70 years, 11 months and 4 days.

Slight correction, his year of death was 1863 (the 3's and 5's look a lot alike).

RE: Strine Family
There was indeed a stone for John on the left side of Martha's stone. However it broke off several years ago and I think it was removed by a family member to preserve it. He was going to get a metal maker to put in its place but I have yet to see it. I do have a picture of both stones. Will have to do some digging to find it however. Computers are wonderful things and so are digital cameras but so many files and so many places I will have to look but eventually I will find the picture. give me a few days and I will find it. I have lots of info on Philip and his family if you are interested. Philip married the second time to his first cousin once removed who was the daughter of Frederick Forney and Catherine Strine. So that makes me a double desendent of the Strine family. I am not so sure that is something to be proud of or not...I desend from John and Peter Strine. however it makes finding anscestors easier some times. Not quite so many branches to find.

Strine Family
I too am a descendent of John Strine who was born ca 1774 and died in Richland Twp. Marion County, Ohio in 1841 and his wife Martha Coble b 1774 died 1851. My gr.gr. grandfather was Phillip Strine who was born 22 Feb 1818 in Cumberland County, PA and died in 1895 in McCook, Red Willow County, NE.

You do not have Philip listed as one of John and Martha's children. Philip had two wives and 13 children. One of his children is buried in Kengel Cemetery with his grandparents. I believe it is John, the family was living in Delaware County at the time. John died in 1848 at the age of 4. And in 1850 the family had moved back to PA where Philip's first wife died in the Fall of 1850 along with another son James who died in the fall of 1850.

I visit that cemetery every time I drive by. The stones are in sad shape but still readable.
