I love to read and to do genealogy. Discovering my heritage is fascinating. I have met numerous new cousins via the internet - it is great. I am very willing to share family history information with other family members. Some of the names that I am researching are: Austin, Nelson, Wilcox, Cahoon, Dietrich, Dunsmore, Strong, Park, Salway, and Swendsen.|

|Yandeau||re estimated birth year|
Ok, I don't except them without the death age in both the year and month. ie 62 yrs 5 mos.
Eg Thos. Dunsmore died May 4 1901. He was 62 years old.
You say for birth date subtract 62 from 1901 to get birth yr + "1839."
What month was he born? Do you know?
Well if he already had a birthday on or before May 4 then it works out just fine.
However, If his birthday is later on during the year he would be turning 63 years old.
Subtract 63 from 1901 and you have 1838.
So which is is birth year, 1838 or 1839?
I use family search site and I know they estimates birth yrs. but they say so. There is only one blank space for the exact birth year on this site.. So I put the age at death in the bio.
I don't obsess if there is a blank in the birth year as long as I put the age in the bio.
I figure if it was not important to the family to include the entire birth dates then why should I try to guess.
Hope that is Ok with you.

Thank you for responding. Sometimes our first requests are lost, deleted unintentionally, or life gets in the way or they have joined the many who are on these memorials. I send two and after that, I address all my emails to the firstname.lastname@example.org and I have always received help. Not that you need to follow my plan.
I know also that some folks have so many rules, regs and whatever quoting from the book which to me is a little foolish but understandable as they may be the folks who never bend rules. I feel the memorials and info is already out there and in many places. If a family member of the deceased asks for deletion, then, of course I would delete it. Give credit to the sources of info, if you have it and God bless you.
The life meter is ticking, I need to go. Michigan mother

Thank you for these tips. It is much appreciate. To see info on Andrew Cahoon and Mary + Mahonrii and family as well as William Carruth (Mary's father) see "Mormon Gold" by Kenneth Davies and Lori K. Hansen. William Carruth left a Journal detailing his activities after leaving Scotland with Andrew--but I don''t know where it is located: BYU?

Frances. Please contact me. Andrew Cahoon,Bradford White Elliott, George Q Cannon, all were associated with my ancestor, Hiram Gates of Greenwood 1849-1850. Found references to your family when dignataries visited Greenwood in mid Oct1850.Searching for info on Hiram's death the first week of Sept,1850. Thanks for your consideration of this request.

Hi, Frances. I paid my respects to your Aunt Lottie today as I was up on the hill. I added a bigger-picture photo and a location number in the notes. I thought I'd let you know so that you can rearrange the photos on her memorial if you wish. Take care. -- Colyn

You're more than welcome for the photos, Frances. I didn't realize his wife Lottie was there. I'll look for her next time I'm up there -- she must be in another section. I must say that Lloyd has the best view of Portland that I've seen in a cemetery here yet.

I went back to the cemetery today and looked for your great aunts site using the location listed by the city of Kelowna website C 4 82 63, the spot has no marker on it, On the left her husbands grave is marked as well as a grandson of his. If you wish I can email you the pictures of I took. I
can go back and check the general area for the name Muriel..
