Thelma Ingle
Re: Memorial 45562382.

This is Thelma Bohning Ingle. I'm curious where the death date of 1938 came from. A stone? Minnesota death records list Thelma's death as 8 February 1940, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Our family records list 3 July 1903, Iowa, as her birthdate. If you have headstone photographs of Lawrence Ingle, Thelma Ingle, and Patricia Ingle Morris, I would love them to be posted!

Eunice Pope Fowler #16303252
From account of our family history.

Eunice is the only wife of Samuel Fowler. She did marry again after his death in 1862. so the 1812 War pension had to be for her second husband.

After the Home Guard killed her husband, they took all of her food. She was desperate. She heard of a place near Carrollton, Carroll, GA where she could get some food. She left her children and walked from Randolph County, AL over to Carroll County, GA, got some food and was on her way back home when Confederate soldiers took that food from her also. An officer saw what had happened to her, put her on his horse, took her back to get more food, and escorted her back to Randolph County.

James Halpin #16303273
James Halpin had been home on leave and was on his way back to camp when the Home Guard confronted him and declared him to be a deserter. They shot him on the spot. His body was carried back to what is now the Fowler Cemetery for burial.

Samuel Fowler #16303251
From an account of our family history.....

Uncle Samuel was home for a few days on leave. He stayed two days longer that he was supposed to in order to help Aunt Nicey (Eunice) plant the fields. The "home guard" declared him a deserter and shot him at his plow in the field. He was buried in a shallow grave, wrapped in a bedspread on a hill behind his house - which is now Fowler Cemetery.

They also shot James Halpin who was on his way back to camp, but had over-stayed his leave. He is buried in Fowler.

They also shot John Key who was still at home when the Home Guard shot him as a deserter. Also buried in Fowler.

Wilson, Willie Mae

Thanks for transfering MaMaw (Willie Wilson) to me. She was a unique little woman and we all miss her so much. She was always the life of the family get togethers, she never met a stranger.
Thanks again. Debbie
