I have always been facinated by cemeteries. I grew up across the street from a large cemetery in Hot Springs, Arkansas and would spend my summer afternoons wondering through the graves admiring the unique headstones. This love has followed me to adulthood as I travel with my job and prefer to pack a lunch and find a lovely cemetery to eat at and wander through than to eat in a restaurant. I just recently found Find A Grave when I began doing genealogy research. I was so touched to see that someone had been sweet and taken a photo of my baby girl's headstone and realized what a wonderful way to be productive when traveling Arkansas and enjoying my lunches and cemeteries.|
I give my permission for family members to use the pictures of headstones that I have taken. I keep all of my pictures and will be happy to provide a high resolution picture through email.

Freida: "Dandy" was my great uncle. I knew him personally. His true given name was Granville David. Allegedly the name Granville came from an English lord from the 1600s, who was involved in distribution of land from the King of England. This is all family lore, and has been handed down by the family. His grandfather's name David Granville Capshaw, Jr., ergo his gg grandfather was David Granville. Regardless of what his registration card says, (the one I have shows him as "Grand Dandy Capshaw")there is no reason to believe that his given name would have actually been GranDville.
Often, the registrar would fill out these cards, and more often, the registrant would NOT fill out the card properly due to distrust and/or disdain of the government.
Thank you for contacting me, and keep up your good work.

Can you please transfer my sons memorial to me? I am anxious to connect his memorial to other family members.
Thank you so very much for all your work. This is such a blessing.

Thank you for your quick reply. Here is the information for Mary Kate Hudman McDonald
Born: March 21, 1906 - Arkansas
Died: Dec. 26, 1999 - Colorado
If you find where she is buried, that would be great. Sometimes these things just slip through the cracks. I am a volunteer for findagrave here in Cape Girardeau, Mo. and have taken upon myself the job of revising the cemetery rolls here at the city cemeteries. They put all the names online so all I had to do was compare that to the memorial pages on findagrave. However we are talking over 10,000 burials here so it is taking a long time. Hopefully it will help someone who is looking for a loved one as I am.
Thanks again. Ruth

I am looking for the cemetery where Mary Kate Hudman McDonald is buried there in Arkansas. Her husband is buried in Louisiana and his family told me (by way of Ancestry.com) that she is buried near Gurdon, Arkansas. I have looked in these cemeteries: Hart's chapel, Copeland Ridge, and Richland Cemetery and she is not listed in them. At least not on findagrave. Do you know where she is buried?
We may be related - my mother lived in Hot Springs - Elizabeth Hughes Brantly- and was a cousin to Mary Kate, Nobie, Nancy, Harry, etc. We used to go to Hudman Family reunions. Thank you for your help. Ruth Brantly Smith (Missouri)

No problem. Could you please share his obit? It's no longer under copyright law since it's before 1923. Thank you

I received your request but am not sure what you want me to do. Site already says he is the only child. Would you like to add his transcribed obit?
