I have added these memorials, mostly from the historic cemeteries of Charleston to memorialize all the individuals who have contributed to the history of Charleston.

If I don't respond to a request for transfer it means I prefer to retain the memorial.

In the event a photo of a headstone is not included, it generally means that the memorial information was taken from a cemetery transcription or death record. One of those who did the transcription was Elizabeth C. Curtis. Without her efforts cemeteries such as Trinity United Methodist and Old Third Central Presbyterian Cemetery records would not be included or available since neither of the above church exists today, including the cemetery and headstones. I just found out yesterday January 21, 2010 that internments of Old Third Central Presbyterian Church Cemetery have been moved to Riverview Memorial in Charleston. There are others who did transcriptions, but I am not aware who they are. If someone knows, I would be glad to acknowledge them in this profile.

Some of the headstones at the Circular Church were impossible to read, however the church had previously documented many of the graves sites by plot #'s. In those cases where I could not read the headstone I used the information from the church records found at the Charleston library to identify the headstones. I did list the plots #'s on the majority of the memorials.

A special thanks to the work of Clare Jervey published in 1906 with the transcription of St. Michael's. Her transcription allowed me to include much that was unreadable.

Campbell King #58708642
Good Afternoon, John,

I just returned from Flat Rock for a Family Reunion and while I was there, I checked at St. John in the Wilderness about this posting. Would you please add "Eliza" to her first name? This tombstone and dates is for "Eliza Campbell King" not "Campbell King."

"Eliza" is both on her tombstone and in the paper records in the Parish Office.

My grandfather used to say, "There are 10 Alexander Campbell Kings: 3 in Flat Rock, 3 in Atlanta, and 4 are dead." Couldn't figure out where this "Campbell King" came from and now I know.

Thanks. Hope you had a great summer.

Transfer Request
First of all, thank you for the work you have done.

I would like to request a transfer of my husband's grandfather, Samuel Baxter Elmore (memorial #87163546). We walked Magnolia today, created maps and took photos. My husband never met his grandfather, so this is his way of honoring his contribution to his life. Some of the information in the obituary is incorrect, so we would like to add some biographical information for Samuel to document things accurately.

Thank you so much. We added a couple of new photos today showing more of his location. Magnolia is such a beautiful and historic and LARGE cemetery.

Warmly,
Maggie aka MagCindy (member (#48744504).

The lady at Trinity Church was clearly wrong on the Burial ! I was just informed of the correct cemetery, i think maybe because the funerals being held at Trinity, she assumed the burial was as well.

RE: Charles F. Frincke
I have the same record from Ancestry, but it doesn't have the birth date. His father was Carl Heinrich Friedrich and his mother was Friederike Bernhardine Fülling. I believe your record and mine are the same person.
I will delete mine and update yours since you had your input first.
