Bio and Links
Bio Photo I visited Find-A-Grave for years filling in blanks on my family tree. After retirement I decided to become a contributor too (2010) here in central Oklahoma. I took all the small cemeteries in Canadian County and some in Kingfisher County. Now that there are so many volunteers with cell phones, I have given up.

Now I am working in conjunction with my cousins in Indiana and Green County Kentucky to add memorials and photographs to the thousands of old cemeteries there.
I have also done genealogy research for several of my friends and I have added their families memorials as I found them too. Find-a-Grave is the only place I have my research listed online. I try to link families together as I go. (2015)

If anyone has complaints about data on my memorials try asking NICELY first without the venom - you catch more flies with honey than you do vinegar - as Mama used to say.

NOTES - To view the photograph at full resolution and clarity, click on it to see the larger view.

Please note that the new system allows you to easily post edit requests by clicking the EDIT tab on your bio page - and then clicking "process edits" at the bottom of that screen.

1. Take a photo of the entire tombstone first, then get a close-up of the name if it is hard to read on the whole view. Try to fill the frame with the stone and not the surrounding countryside, homes, cars, etc.
2. Look for your reflection or shadow in the tombstone BEFORE you take the picture! Stand to the side to prevent reflection.
3. Squat in order to get on the same level as the tombstone - don't stand and shoot down at a sharp angle.
4. If the stone is vertical, take the picture vertically - it will display on the memorial much larger than horizontally. PLEASE DO NOT put the picture up sideways!!! This is very disrespectful!! If you don't know how to turn it, ask me and I will try to help.

We are trying to preserve history so we want the very best pictures possible - it may be all that survives!

** My photos may be used for any nonprofit purpose - ONLY IF - you give credit by listing your source so others can find it. Noting the source INCLUDES the photographer's name, and the Find-a-Grave memorial number or website.**
Some of my family surnames:
KENTUCKY - Durrett, Skaggs, Pierce, Bloyd, Thompson, Cantrell, Elmore, Chaudoin
ILLINOIS - Mingee, Thornton, Gilreath, McNeese, Harris, Strader, McCrady

RE: Needam
I'm having the same problem. I go to the library every day and research old obits to post on my memorial and if I come across others and I get those too. They have are so much information in them.
Where are you getting yours? I was in Surry Co.NC recently but didn't have time to do research.

RE: elmore families
THANK YOU------apparently and sadly, that cemetery shows no record of the wife who was my great-Grandma, HENRIETTA HETTIE TOWNE(TOWN). THANK you so much for your assistance and I got copies of the photos. I am going to try my utmost to get to the cemetery in the next few weeks!! ANY HELP YOU OFFER IS ALWAYS ACCEPTED AND APPRECIATED

elmore families
my mother was Lucille Elmore Adkins, the daughter of CLAUDE A. ELMORE & MARY E. PRICE ELMORE---Claude was the son of William. M. Elmore and Henrietta "Hettie" Towne, the 2nd(??) wife. ANY H ELP YOU CAN GIVE ME in locating graves for William, his 3 wives and also his parents, Peter Elmore and Elizabeth Victor, would be deeply appreciated----
