|I got hook on genealogy after talking to my Grandfather (George E. Deskins) about the "Good Old Days" and how he had a story about everyone and everything. I started by researching only my immediate family but it has escalated to years of research, meeting wonderful people, hearing amazing stories and with much help from other dedicated researchers. After joining FAG it keeps getting better and better. |
I hope that all of realize that we all are related and should treat everyone the way we want to be treated.
My main research is on all the Deskin, Deskins and Deskines lines, but I also do Jackson and Matney
This wonderful tool of FAG is out of this world, I want to thank all the fabulous people that have help me in so many ways. I would not of had the opportunity to meet many of my relatives, as well as others if not for FAG. There is no way I can ever thank many of you, researcher before me, people willing to share info as well as photos and their lives.
I would also like to make a point, this is not a genealogical site, but it gives us a wonderful opportunity to connect our relatives, showing really how small our world is, so I hope that some that feel they don't want to transfer for whatever reason and this is your right, perhaps think that MOST of us, do not do it for numbers but because we appreciate the honor of caring for our relatives like I do. When I hear about my relatives even thou I have never met them, it's like knowing them. Hope this makes sense.

Ocie Laurel Jackson was the daughter of John Albert Jackson and Find A Grave Memorial# 50215558 Ellen Pavitha Lockhart Jackson, Find A Grave Memorial# 50215602.
I would be happy to help you with your Jacksons, How are you related. Ocie had nine siblings George Cowan, Mary Belle, Ocie Laurel, Joseph W., Elsie May, Everette James, Eula E., Lea S., John A. and Ruby Edith Jackson. As I said before The information I have I have researched from the computer and now I am looking for records to substantiate it.
Ocie Laurel Jackson Duty is my husband's grand mother, James Joseph Duty Find A Grave Memorial# 73553789 his father is Arthur Henry Duty Find A Grave Memorial# 145089335. I am working to unite the family and supply a more fitting memorial, with the information I am sure of.
|Sherry Paul Duty||RE: Duty|
I am working on both sides. I have the Jacksons back to James Jackson born about 1602 London, England dies about 1667, and the Duty for sure to William Duty who died in 1815. I have the names and dates what I am doing now is collecting records to prove the linage. When I found find a grave I thought what a great resource for research. But recently I started to connect the family. Add documents and pictures You have not said what relationship you have to Curtis Neal. Knowing Curtis, I think he would find situation this very amusing.

|Clifford Edsel Miller||RE: Thanks|
The Compton Cemeteries are on Compton Mountain which is north of Dismal River Road (rt 638) on rt 628.
All of the cemeteries are on private lands. I don't know what "people are telling you " about who is buried in which cemetery. My information is from people who have or do live on Compton Mountain and according to them, the listings on Find A Grave are accurate. If you learn of errors, please help me correct them.

|MGlazeHart||RE: Elizabeth Victoria Marcum Deskins|
I have a copy of death certificates for Elizabeth Marcum & Thomas B. Deskins. Both say they are buried in Deskins Cemetery.
Also have a copy of their son Thomas B. Deskins death certificate who died in 1957 which states he is buried in Deskins but his headstone application states that he is buried in Marcum Cemetery, Kirk, W.Va. I would guess that if the military stone was to be sent to Marcum cemetery, then that is where the son is buried.
Hope that this helps. Marjorie (MGlazeHart).
