RE: Augustus Foy
The Norfolk Journal and Guide, Aug 21, 1965.I have a PDF of the Obit. His father is not Augustus Foy Sr. The Guide actually has an article about his father as the last slave in Kinston NC.

i sent you a request on your edits page.
if you complete the edit, i will remove his name from the list because his body in is VA, not in OH.

I agree, but the stone is what it is!
Thanks for posting, and would you mind linking him to his parents?

I sent an edit with Minnie's correct birthdate and death date. The information was gleaned from her death certificate.

Thank you!

RE: Mary Reed
Thanks Diane! I love doing genealogy. I don't know if it's because I'm passionate about it or just passionately nosy :-) The husband did eventually remarry (to a Mary Alice) and appears to have had 2 children. He was the captain of a tugboat. Thanks again!! Irene

RE: Great-Grandfather
Thanks for the response. I can't find him. He left Burke County,Ga around 1942 and never returned. I found a WWII draft card and it had an address of Richmond, VA.And nothing after that... My grandmother heard thru the family he fled there.
