I am originally from Chicago and now live in Northwest Indiana. I travel across the state of Indiana for work, so I try and find cemeteries along the way. I have family in Fayette Co, Alabama. I started out by adding the names of family members, and now add as much as I can, hoping that it will help someone who is looking for their family. |
My entries for Maury County, Tennessee are posted with the permission of Wayne Austin, and come from his site;

|David Allen||Memorial Transfer|
Hello, my name is David Allen. I wrote to you a month ago about changes in a memorial that you manage. The memorial in question, Memorial# 16526584 for James Allen, is my 4th direct Great Grandfather. I request that you transfer the management of that memorial to me. As a direct descendent, and a frequent visitor to Findagrave.com, I think itís about time I stepped up and did my share of the work. Please consider my request and let me know itís status. Thank you in advance.
|Xcountryrdr||Bobby Bowman Memorial No. 24060571|
I do not fall under the direct rules of relationship by Find A Grave for transferswould but would like to manage Bobby Bowmans Memorial I have a strong connection with the Bowman family and was affected by his death, members of my immediate family were best friends with Bobby and my sister was married to his brother Jules who passed away Tuesday. If transfer is not possible please proof his bio to correct typing mistakes in your rewritten version of my original request for his obit, I would have liked to have had my original obit submitted as follows: Robert Bowman was 15 and on his way to his first day of work as a caddy at Woodmar Country Club when he walked into the path of a westbound train on Broad Street. Witnesses say he apparently did not see the train approaching possible because an eastbound train directly in front of him had just passed by. The Engineer of the Erie-Lackawana train, H. C. Lee, 62 of Huntington, IN said he did not see the boy until it was too late to stop. Robert was killed instantly when struck by the train at 7:15 a.m. the train, traveling at a speed of 40 Ė 45 miles an hour was bound for Chicago from Hoboken, NJ. Survivors include parents, Lillian (step-father George) Milne, sister Dona Bowman; brother Jules Bowman; step-brothers Donald and George Milne all at home, and Ronald Milne, airman third class, Barksdale, LA; paternal grandmother Mrs. Anna Bowman, Hammond; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Armand LaCouture, Lowell MA. Robert was a member of the Griffith Methodist Church and was a student at Griffith High School. Information from The Hammond

A Tribute to Robert Bowman from the Officers of the Class of 1964 posted on the Griffith High School Alumni Facebook page by Sandra Mack on Feb. 13, 2014 As we, the student body of Griffith High School, gaze over the streets of town, the Scherwood Club and elsewhere, we find a face missing, a face of one who meant a lot to many of us. We can hear that certain laugh. Hear it and know it will never reach our ears again, only our hearts. Bob was a credit to his school, a credit in the sense that all who knew him were filled with fun the minute they saw him. It seems we can do so little now for a person that did so much for us. All who knew him will say Bob was one of Griffith High Schoolís finest students and the finest friend anyone could have.
Thank you in advance

Hi Sabrina, i saw your Aunt Barbara this week and told her about this website and what a good job you had done of memorializing your grandparents. She seemed very pleased.
She said she would tell Debra about it.

This is the grave of my great-uncle. Thank you so much for adding this photo! If you happen to be near the same cemetery, I'd really love a photo of my grandparents, Paul and Yolanda Toth who are resting next to him. I live in the UK now so I'm not able to get back myself. Thank you so much for remembering Uncle Jimmy!

|Edward Yasko||Any More Info on George Yurkanin|
I'm originally from Cal City and my family settled in Northwest Indiana from Europe. I'm curious if you have any further inforamtion on your George Yurkanin listing (St. Nicholas Cemetery in Hammond). My grandfather who passed away a couple years ago was also called George Yurkanin and also lived in Whiting. Just curious if you have any more info to see if the two families may be related. My grandmother thought there were other Yurkanins in Whiting who were cousins of my grandfather's. Appreciate your help.
