Someone was kind enough to add my daughter's grave on here before I even knew about this site.|
Just trying to pay it forward...
My grandmother passed away in September on her 90th birthday. If you would like to leave a flower
Lois Purtymun Carpenter
98% of the memorials I add come from pictures of the headstones taken at the cemeteries. It's the only way to get everyone without someone being missed and just about every cemetery I have been to there have been memorials that were overlooked (even in the small ones.) Some are very difficult to read so I put on as much info as I can make out in hopes that someone will come along with the missing pieces or corrections for what I entered. This site is made up of volunteers GIVING UP THEIR TIME to do this so there is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON TO BE RUDE when contacting with corrections.
.."We do realize, however, that when transcribing a cemetery, it is not always possible to determine if the person is living or not. Please do not add pre-need memorials from (1931-present) to Find A Grave." Yes, I do add all markers if they are before the 1931 birth date and have no death date as more often than not they have passed away and the marker has not been updated. There are loved ones out there that may have been searching for that person which is the whole reason I do this.
Thank you to all of those who give of their time to add to this site!!

There were Purtymans all around Sedona when I was growing up and I knew some of them well enough to say "hello" when we passed, but the only one I really remember was Elmer Purtyman, who ran a river rafting outfit and was the Justice of the Peace. There was someone else I remember better, though, and that was Gay Reid, who was the daughter of Vera Purtyman. Gay and I went to 7th and 8th grade together at Sedona School (I have an 8th grade class photo). Her death, as I'm sure you know, was tragic and way too premature.

Thank you so much for the transfer of my aunt Dorothy, her husband and their son to me. I shall tend them well.
|M. A. Claxton||Raymond Swett transfer|
Thank you so much for being so considerate. I do truly appreciate what you have done, and I know Raymond would be happy that I am managing his memorial.
|M. A. Claxton||Raymond Bluford Swett|
Wow! So quickly! Thank you so much for your prompt updates to Raymond's memorial. Did you get my addition that his middle name is Bluford? He was named for his uncle William Bluford Swett who was supposedly named for his father William Bluford Swett, though we never saw his name any way other than William B.
I will send another edit with some personal information that might be good to put on the memorial.

Thank you for adding the info on Emma Stancil Gillespie memorial
My reference was the old thin O'Brien cemetery book for Calvert County. Perhaps it was an error since the Duke Family Cemetery has her husband listed. If I can get to the cemetery to verify a gravestone, I will let you know. There are quite a few errors in the book that have been located.
If a tombstone is located, we can adjust accordingly.

We are currently working to identify anyone buried in Westlawn-Hillcrest Cemetery Omaha NE that has served in the military. If you have a loved one buried there or know of someone, please send us a message. We place flags on the graves for Memorial Day. This project is sponsored by Centennial Masonic Lodge #326.
If you can send us the names, we will be sure to include them on our list to get a flag.
Thank you for the help with this ongoing project.

Hi. Clarence E Saylors # 113379435 is Clarence Edward Saylors. His father is William Basil Saylors #95417693 and his mother is Selena Belle "Lena" Guthrie Saylors #95417703. Both are at White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery in Anderson County, SC. I have his obituary and I will submit it as a profile change if you want to add it. His wife and children are still living.

Thank you. And I think I may have jumped the gun a bit. F/G seems to have a timing issue these days. There is a 12-24 lag between the time you approve the edit and I get the notice you have approved it. This issue has been reported on the Forums, so I know F/G Management is aware of the issue now.
Again, I apologize for not having a bit more patience.
|Bob & Valerie (Johnson) Freeman||Updated Process for Edits to Memorials|
Thank you for the updates to the Sibley / Evans memorials at Silver Brook Cemetery.
Are you familiar with the new "automated" system for doing updates to the memorials?
I have send you several using this new way to update names, places, and dates.
You will still get e-mails for updates to link family members together.
Go to your Contributor/Profile page.
Look in the upper right corner.
You should now see a tab labeled Edits.
Check there to see if any have been submitted to you. Then just review and accept.
