Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am an 8th generation Durr from South Carolina. My family roots grow very deep into the soil of Orangeburg, Dorchester, Colleton, Berkeley and Barnwell counties.

I've researched and traveled across the Lowcountry part of the state to where my ancestors settled, to dig into musty courthouse bins, rooted through libraries, and traipse cemeteries.

Even after many years of research, I am awed when I look at the old family tombstones, bible, land plats, Last Will and Testaments and keepsake pictures with so many lineages and thinking of the forklore of many generations past touches my heart.

Some of the families I research are; Durr, Ruple, Bell, Keitt,Salisbury, Murray, Weathers, Whetsell, Miller, Ayers, Way, Beach, Bozard, Strock, Dukes and Johnson.

Fairey/Ruple/Sanders
Hello...I am searching my husband's family and came across your entry on Find a Grave for Fanny Sanders. My husband's grandfather was Willis R. Sanders, brother to Fanny. I see where, in 1900, a number of people have Fanny married to Julius S Fairey who apparently died in 1912 but on the 1910 census, Fanny has been married to David Ruple for 15 years! There is also another Julius Fairey on the 1910 census. I know that the death certificate for Fanny Ruple states that her father is Jacob Sanders and that is my husband's line, but if so, am not sure where Julius fits in. I wonder if you can help me in any way. Best to contact me by email at ersanders1@hotmail.com. Thank you for any help you might be able to offer.

Hi! Just watched the true story movie about them, "The Last Confederate". The DVD has some nice commentary from the family re: his being a CW soldier and their relationship. Thought it might be a nice idea to add to their pages - just a thought! KP in Gettysburg :)

Ruple - Ayers in South Carolina
I am the principal researcher for a life-long friend who is related to the Ayer/Ayers family of South Carolina. Supposedly an Andrew Downing Ayers or Aires married Barbara Ruple. One of their children was John Louis Ayer who traveled back and forth between the Orangeburg area of South Carolina an Floyd County, Georgia before going to Louisiana in the 1860s - 1870s. Do you know anything about this family. Thank you, Emily West
