Bio Photo The Recording of A Cemetery
by Thelma Greene Reagan

Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For loved ones whose lives are stilled.

Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.

Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.

Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hallowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.

Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.

Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.

Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

Thank you for bringing to my attention that I had not updated their plot information. I checked through all of them and found others that you didn't mention as well. Thanks again!

Thank you for your response to my request for a photo of his stone. I don't know what to think of the fact that the obituary refers to a cemetery that did not exist at that time. Are you aware of any other Evergreen cemeterie that are near by? Any theories?
I noted in the bio that you had not found a stone for him.

William B. & Mrytle C. Bishop
Hello. In 2012 you posted a photo for Myrtle at St. Helena's. Her tomb does not show a date of death. After William died she re-married to a Mr. Tedder who is buried in the military cemetery in Beaufort.
I don't know where Mrytle is buried. In your travels could you return to their stone and see if 2003 is chiseled in for dod?
Mrytle was my Dad;s first cousin, my aunt. If you don't feel like, that's fine. Thank you.
