I'm fairly new to genealogy and researching, but the bug has bitten hard.|
Any photos that I have posted, feel free to copy for your use. When I take a photo, my hope is that it will be useful to researchers, be appreciated by survivors, and enjoyed by them all.

She just died Aug 10th, nice obit in the Columbus Dispatch. I though you would like to add to her memorial.

Again, I do not see mention of my Great Grandfather James Martin Wakefield, only Philander Hezekiah. He is in Waco, Texas at this time and will die in 1919. James would be 14 years older than Charles, so I am not sure about the age spread.

Thank you for your response. My great aunt was Sarah D. Neilson, and she and her half sister, Anne Neilson ran Belmont Plantation. Sarah Neilson also worked for 40 years at the woman's college as secretary to the dean. I am headed out today to visit Vaughn Cemetery and Friendship Cemetery to see what I can find. Harold Wright, who now lives in Alabama, has written extensively about the Neilsons, as he grew up on the farm next to Belmont and apparently knew my Aunt Sarah well. I am only here for the week, but will dig into any of the resources that I can. So interesting that you may have had a relative that worked at Belmont! I have made contact with the current owners and hope to meet them this week and see the plantation first hand. My mother spent a good deal of time there in her youth, and I have pictures of the home and some of the share croppers who worked the land. Many thanks.

I saw your contribution to Find A Grave of one of the Neilsons. My mother was a Neilson, and her aunt was Sarah Dandridge Neilson and her father John Bruce Neilson. Do you know anything of the Neilson family? I am in Columbus, Mississippi right now researching family history.

Thank you for your reply. You are probably right about where the Collier stone is. Yes, I do know about the loss of the fence ... they probably took it for scrape. Breaks my heart that beautiful old fence is no longer there. It stood for so many years and now heartless thieves made off with it for what? a couple of bucks. I hope it wasn't the result of posting the cemetery and the photo on Find A Grave. :(

Hello! You took all those really wonderful photos of all the grave markers at Weaver Cemetery. What a great addition to all those memorials. You even added an Ellis grave that had been overlooked before! Sarah Idella Millisa Ellis ... but apparently there is another overlooked grave because I have a list done (what looks like a school report) in 1985. She did a great job ... anyway the report has another grave Francis Crigler Collier [No Dates, No inscription other than the name.] Anyway ... I'm not sure who this person might be but I looked on a couple of census records and I did find a Francis Collier born in VA married to Beverly H Collier. I also found a marriage record: Frances Crigler m Beverly Collier 23 Aug 1837 Lowndes. I'm thinking this is the same person as the grave in Weaver Cemetery previously overlooked. 1860 census Mr. Beverly Collier has a whole other wife. So, I'm going to add the grave to Weaver Cemetery and if you ever come across the stone (it is probably small) then maybe add it to the memorial. Thanks!

Thank you for posting the picture of the restored headstone of Mary Ann Gammill, wife of Robert Lavender. When I saw it in person, in 1975, it was decayed and broken off. This is so encouraging! ~Debra (her gr-gr-gr granddaughter)

I see you posted a picture of Tracy Green from Columbus, MS and I was wondering if you were related to him or know anything about him other than that he was a policeman? I am trying to learn some details of his career as an officer of the Law. I would appreciate any help you can give. thanks.
