If anyone is interested in Doan/Doane/Done/Dowen, etc., genealogy, please consider joining the Doane Family Association. Information can be found here:|
My grandmother, Wanda Zirkle Jilka, and great-aunt, Veda Zirkle Vickery, compiled a book commonly referred to as "The Red Book," "Zirkle Branches 1725-1978, Yesteryears and Yesterdays." There are several copies for sale if anyone is interested. It mainly outlines the history of two Zirkle/Zerkel branches which left VA, went to OH, then settled in Richland, Shawnee Co, KS.
"Life is not separate from death. It only looks that way." Blackfoot Quote
"A Visit to the Gravesite"
Your Tombstone stands among the rest,
Neglected and alone.
The name and dates are chiseled here,
On polished marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care,
Though it is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist,
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you,
In flesh and blood and bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago,
I wonder if you could have known,
Would spread among the ones you left
In all the seeds you've sown.
I wonder how you lived and loved?
I wonder if you ever knew?
That someday I would find you in this spot,
And come to visit you?
Walter Butler Palmer

Hi Becky, Its been a while since we've messaged. But me and a distant cousin has been working on finding people with in our family line. I found out my 5th grandfather Watson had a brother named Andrew Jackson Lowther. Andrew is buried in Arkansas beside his wife mary ann. If you can link him up to Elias Robert Lowther it would be greatfully appreciated. Thanks Bo

Becky, You are listing under James D. Campbell Find A Grave Memorial# 93642602 a Sibling James D. Campbell (1818 - 1887)
James can't be his own sibling.
|Mary Lavezzari||Hiram Payne|
Hi Becky, Thank you so much for your research. Unfortunately it is not my Hiram. Mine would have been an old man born c. 1821. He was living in Howard Co KS in 1875 and his widow is in Cowley Co KS in 1880. Your work is helping to narrow down my search and I very much appreciate it. Thank you so much for your help. Hi Becky, I noticed your memorial for Hiram Payne of Kansas and wondered if he could be the ancestor I have been looking for. Would you remember where the information came from, Cemetery records or a marker that has not been photographed? Any help you might be able to give me will be much appreciated. Thank You, Mary Lavezzari

|Zoiya Holland-Tate||RE: Helen C. Sprague Doane|
I didn't know but i have found her. She is at Forrest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, Ca. I just had a hunch since that is one of two places out here that Sprague's seem to get buried at. I can try to get a photo sometime if she has a head stone
UR welcome - I have been going thru some old obits and posting them - hopefully a lot of new info will be added - I especially like the survivor info - it sure does help with genealogy!! Donna
