Prompted by my father to personally find all family cemeteries in the Monroe Co., TN, area, I learned how addictive "walking on the ground your ancestors walked on" is! An awakening was finding the horrific conditions some cemeteries are in, including those managed by TVA. Finding the Find-a-Grave website will enable me to more readily show the world what can happen when no one cares. I am a UT graduate with 3 grown children. Recently, I became aware of 3 African American Cemeteries in Lonsdale - the middle of the city of Knoxville, TN. Research done by Robert McGinnis proved it to encompass 24 acres, most of which became a dumping ground, was overgrown, and was a location for unspeakable criminal activity. Sheriff J. J. Jones has undertaken the clearing of the worst - Southern Chain and Longview. I am attempting to capture every stone possible and preserve the memories of these special people before they again become victims and disappear. Some photos are very bad, and I apologize. Due to the terrain conditions, I was very limited. My research priorities are Moser, Nichols, Nuchols, Davis, Cook, Clemens, Hurst, and the families involved in the Howard-McGhee-Jones Feud in TN.

Thomas L Davis #102542854
Hi, I've been researching Thomas Lloyd Davis, and found his death certificate, as well as his son's (Francis Owen Davis) DC. I know that Thomas's DC says buried in Mount Harman Cemetery, but he is actually buried in Mount Harmony Cemetery in Heiskell. There is a picture of the headstone, with T. L. Davis, and his son F. O. Davis, and the dates. I have sent an update to the person maintaining the correct memorial regarding this. But I also wanted to let you know as well. See findagrave # 69141279. Perhaps the two of you could work together to determine which of you would like to maintain the memorial. Or if you wanted, you could transfer to me. Thomas is the brother of my mother's great great grandmother. Thanks!

George L. Williams
Tommie, I recently have been blessed to find the identity of my grandfather, George Lee Williams, now buried at Red Top cemetery in Happy Valley, TN. His mother was Cordelia Nichols Williams, and I'm curious if your part of this Nichols' family.

Thank you,
Libby Myers

Tommie, I would be glad to transfer the memorial to you if you want. I attend Pleasant Grove now, I left when I married, but I have since returned. Just let me know and I will transfer to you if you want. Also send your Find A Grave # for me to transfer. Thanks Shirley

Tommie,

Thanks. Today I got an email from Shirley Ogle indicating that my memorial to William E Nuebert #107931455 was a duplicate of yours #96161230. I looked that one up and saw it was for William E Newhart, not Nuebert. I believe they are for the same person based on the inscription but will let you decide if you correct yours and I delete mine. Until then, William E has two memorials albeit with different spellings. Thanks

Tommie,

In past couple of years I've made some new memorials that you had previously done so I could add inscriptions and link them to family. I have added photos to some of yours and deleted mine But I cannot add the inscriptions or other information linking to family. Sorry for the confusion.

I have been searching for members of my father`s family for many years. Some of them moved from Tennessee to Pennsylvania nd lost contact with the family from South Carolina and Tennessee. Her husband, Sam Foster, is buried in SC near his parents. Her children are buried near Knoxville, with her father. Thanks so much. I'm in ME Ohio, If I can go d so m do e for you, let me know.
