I live in Texas and am a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans Robert E. Lee Camp #239 and the Order of Confederate Gray Honor Guard as well as working with the SCV Graves Registery. |
I am interested in all aspects of Graveyard, Gravestone care and cleaning and Family history. I enjoy finding those long lost forgotten graveyards. Special attention always given to our Confederate Veterans.

It has been several years since we wrote back and forth. Every time I see your name I think "I should write Barry and see how he is doing". I'm not sure but I think we hooked up on the Morgans' if not them then it was probably Kilgore

Are you a relative of Vernon Grover? Contact me if you would like to compare/exchange Grover family history information. Everitt Mitchell Grover, brother to Vernon, was my maternal grandfather.

I was happy to help! She is my 6th great grandmother, and I have been wanting to get to the cemetery for a long time. I finally found it! Are you related?

You are welcome. Also, I am aware of a CSA veteran that is buried in Carthage City Cemetery, but he has no stone and I do not know the exact location, but it is most likely next to his wife who has a stone. Would I be able to get a memorial stone for him and place near his wife?

|Suzanne Murphey Porter||Photo of William Ezekiel Murphy pic you posted|
I'm in the process of proving William Ezekiel Murphy is our ancestor through his son, Chesley, then his son, Tom M. Murphey. I was fascinated to see the picture of William Ezekiel Murphy you added to his Find A Grave. How did you have the picture of him to post, and do you know about what year it was taken? It would mean a great deal to me if I could get a better copy of this picture. Tom M. Murphey came to Anderson County, Texas, and the rest of my line of Murphey's have been from around Athens and Corsicana since then. Thanks so much for any information you can give me.

After the Battle of Shiloh, when the troops were reorganized, Co. E of the the 12th Tennessee, being mostly Kentuckians, this company was assigned and became Co. L of the 3rd Kentucky Infantry under Col. A. P. Thompson. They were mounted in 1864 and it became Co. L, 3rd Kentucky Mounted Infantry fighting with General Forrest.
