Found findagrave when I was doing some internet research on a old family grave site located on our youth camp property. We then took pictures of all the grave sites in the cemetery, added pictures to the memorials that were already created and ended up creating almost a dozen more. From there we decided to document the dozen or so small family cemeteries located in our 20 mile long Appalachian valley that we live in. Enjoying getting to know the history and people of our area.|
If I created a memorial for one of your relatives, just let me know and we will transfer. Love answering photo requests, especially in other area cemeteries that haven't been photographed.

I will add it as soon as I can find where I found it. Having trouble locating it with my maps.
Thanks for taking on another County to map.

Greetings! The location of the Old Hoges Chapel Cemetery (Mt Lake Rd) is right next to, or a part of, the Williams Family Cemetery (aka Hoges Chapel Cemetery). The pictures were taken as a survey of the Williams Family Cemetery, but as they were already listed as Old Hoges Chapel, they were left there.

Glad you were able to locate the cemetery, looks like it is in pretty bad shape. Would you let me know when you get the GPS. I would like to add the page with the map and directions to my material. Thanks.

I am sorry that I am going to be of much help. I corresponded with Hattie Miller in Giles County in 1995, doubt if she is still living now. I am sure that she sent me the pictures from the Early-Payne Cemetery, I did not take them but did put them on Findagrave. Hattie wrote a book on the Miller family that the Giles County Archives should have I found a copy of some pages from Giles County, Virginia History - Families by Giles County Historical Society 208 N. Main St. , Box 404, Pearisburg, VA 24134 the phone number is have is 703-921-1050. They have the Early-Payne Cemetery listed as Newport RT 460 (Alpine Village) Maybe the Historical Society can give you a better description of the location. Good luck.

Unfortunately, I can not remember where the cemetery is located. I was riding along with someone that was researching their family history.
I do remember it was down a dirt road in a farmers field and if I remember correctly possibly not too far from Wilburn Valley.
You may want to contact the person that created the cemetery on FindAGrave.

I WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE MONUMENT FOR THE ABOVE GRAVE.
THERE WAS ONE. BUT. I ASSUME THE PERSON THAT POSTED IT REMOVED IT. HAD NO IDEA IT WAS GONE.
HE IS MY GGG-GRANDFATHER.
I ALSO SAW THE DUPLICATES ON HIS MEMORIAL. ITS SORT OF A TANGLED MESS AT THIS TIME.
HOPEFULLY IT WILL BE STRAIGHTENED OUT SOON.
ONCE AGAIN, THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND TALENT.

Thank you for messaging. I have watched Wishing You Well - wonderful movie. When we watched the movie, we thought it was the Jones homestead but unsure since several homes in Giles built about same time have same characteristics. I recognized so many places in the movie. I am sorry I missed the showing this week-end. I would like to see the movie again. I am going to see if I can find a DVD of the movie. Thank you for message and thank you for the photos of Jones Cemetery and all you do to memorialize my beloved Giles County.
