Bio Photo (Desperately hoping someone, anyone, will create a new website called FIND AN OBIT. This is not the place for adding someone who passed away yesterday especially when often there's no cemetery or disposition even mentioned. Many times family would like to add their own loved ones & resent having to wait for a transfer, if they even receive one. Hats off to those Find A Gravers who dig out the old obituaries & add them to memorials. That's what makes this site so helpful for genealogy purposes. Adding this week's death total is just morbid & ghoulish, especially when three people add the same person on the same day. Who was first? Numbers shouldn't be the goal here! Just my opinion)

My interests are genealogy & history, especially military history~God Bless our veterans & active duty servicemen & women!

I really enjoy visiting cemeteries searching for ancestors & always try to take some other grave photos while there. It's fascinating to read some of the older inscriptions & see the style & design that went into the older monuments.

Find A Grave is the best site on the web & has helped me a lot. It's enabled me to find family members who moved away years ago & some that I thought I'd never find.

We've all lost loved ones, wonderful people we'll never forget. This site gives us an opportunity to remember them with photographs, obituaries, family stories & monument photos. It's always a great feeling when someone finds a family member that they'd been unable to locate. I'm sure that's what makes this site so very popular!

I'm always happy to transfer family members or make corrections or additions! I'll gladly remove a memorial, also, if requested. Feel free to use any of the memorial photos I've posted for your family tree, Ancestry.com, etc.!

RE: P. Parkus
Well, Dee, he died in 1919 and she died in 1940. They obviously didn't purchase plots together....or their relationship was on the skids! :-)

At any rate, thanks so much for all of your help. Up until now, the only information I had about him was that he was "buried in Baltimore". You zeroed right in on it, and I really appreciate your help.

I'm still trying to find out whose son Philip Parkus was. I would think that the death of a 13 year-old would have been significant enough to be passed along with other family folklore. Right now, I'm at a dead end.

Keep in touch and I'll do the same ... especially if I find any more relatives in Baltimore!

Regards,

Rob

RE: P. Parkus
Dear Dee,
Thank you! The headstone inscription confirms that "P. Parkus" is, indeed, my maternal great-grandfather!

Out of curiosity, how far apart are the 2 graves (Dora & P. Parkus) from each other?

I REALLY appreciate your help on this, Dee.

Best regards,
Rob

RE: Dora Parkus
Hi Dee,

Thanks for transferring Dora. It's interesting that you found Philip. I, also, ran across him and haven't yet figured out where he fits into the family. I know my great-grandfather remarried (Dora) and that they had 4-5 children. Family folklore never mentioned anything about them losing a young son, but I suspect that Philip is, indeed their child. Yes, I would appreciate the transfer.

By the way, I contacted "Thom" who posted a gravesite whom I believe may be my great-grandfather (Dora's husband), but unfortunately it's listed as "P. Parkus". My great-grandfather's first name was Pincus. How often do you visit these cemeteries? I would love to obtain a photo of it.

Thanks again, Dee.

Rob :)

RE: Thank you, Dee!
Actually, Dee, I just registered with the website this evening. What are the advantages of having it transferred to me?

Thanks!

RE: Memorial# 74197727
Hi, Dee-
Yes, her maiden name was Biddle. Her full name by the time of her death was Margaret Savin Biddle Mercer Wirt Mitchell.
Thanks for doing this, Dee!

Hi Dee,

Thanks to your work, I was able to locate my Great-grandfather's second wife ('Find A Grave Memorial# 118489431'). The photo you took of her headstone was an amazing and very welcome addition to my genealogy research!

Your assistance is GREATLY appreciated!

Regards,

Rob
