I live in the Mississippi Delta. I have been tracing my family history for many years. Some of the families I am researaching (all with southern roots) are: Bennett, James, Skelton, Newton, Howard, Hays, Garner, Little, Westbrook, Warrick, Long, Arbuckle, Blaylock, and Sullivan. If you have relatives in Carroll County and/or Montgomery County, Mississippi in the 1800s, chances are good that our lines cross.|

|Beverly Bills||RE: Lehrton|
I have been wanting to do something for the cemetery and this feels like a start.
What is normally done on a double grave when you know one spouse is still alive. I have not been adding those to the database but notice that some are added. Does find a grave have a policy on this? I have not been able to find anything.

I notice you have done a lot of work on documenting the Lehrton Cemetery. I have picked up and am working on it now too. (Just don't want to step on any toes). I have a lot of relatives there and when the time comes will be there myself. Would love any input -- tips you might have.

Portia, unfortunately I know very little of my Mississippi family and my ancestors there. My father and all of his siblings left Winona in their teens.
My grandparents were J D Collins and Sarah Herring Collins. They ran a gas station in downtown Winona. My grandfather also sold watermelons. His mother was Dovie Hawkins Collins. The only one of his siblings I knew was Montee Blaylock and of course her husband Lo Blaylock.
I met my grandmother's brother J W herring but did not know until I was grown that J W was sheriff there.
Most of my knowledge of family there has come from genealogy research ,especially Find A Grave.
Thank you so much for putting another piece of my family puzzle in place. Charlotte

Portia, thank you so much for posting Mary Hulda Hawkins on Find A Grave (# 33311894).She is my great great grandmother. I have been searching for her for a long time.
I was not raised in Mississippi and knew very little of my family from there.
Thank you! Thank you! Charlotte

|Lois Tanner||Alice F Beevers # 37845198|
Alice's full name is Alice Fairfax Switzer. Her husband Samuel, is Samuel Clarence Beevers the son of Sylvester Cade Beevers and Nancy Lofton. They have 12 children. Samuel Clarence Beevers' father is my 3ggF. I have a lot of information on this family if you would be willing to transfer them I could get this family all linked together. Thanks for all the work you do to preserve the records.

I'm also a Howard from Carroll co. line.
I also live in the delta. I see you have been
doing this a lot long than I and was wondering if you know anything about Lott H Howard family, or John Q A Howard both from Carroll Co. Ms. I think my great grandfather is the James Howard age 1 in the 1880 census with Ellen, Sallie A. 17, Callie 14, Stephen 12, Allice 8, and grandson James 1.
Thank You for any info you may have.
|Ann Bennett||Benjamin F Bennett in Marietta|
This is my grandfather. He was born in 1867 in Germany. I got this information from a census and family bible. I no longer have access to the bible. Most of the Bennett families in Georgia have a British origen.
The family name was originally Benet. They were ethnic Germans who lived in a section of France and Germany that was swapped between the countries. When the Germans took over, this family emigrated. I don't know when. I know the brother had the name of Simon. His mother had the last name of Lotheridge which I know is English. From the family story, they anglicized the last name and spoke only English since they were American now.
Benjamin F. Bennett fought in the Spanish American war and was an ambulance driver during World War I. I saw a picture of the soldiers from Georgia and recognized my grandfather and another soldier had to be a close relative because he looked like my brother. Benjamin F. Franklin looked very much like my father.
I hope this helps with your search.
Hi. I added his headstone today. While I was out there I also took a pic of Elizabeth Lancaster. I wish I could have gotten the dates but it is over half way buried in the ground.

I strongly believe she was the daughter of the senior Albert Louis Pentecost #35795662 &
Nettie Lee Travis Pentecost #35795586 as she indicated on the 1910 census that she had had two children with only one living (Albert Louis Pentecost, jr plus the fact his tombstone matches hers. But I have no proof. I don't know what B & D records exist in Sunflower County, MS for that time period. I know the state hadn't started keeping death records yet. Are they all buried in the same plot?
|Sandi K ||Bose Little|
Here is his wife: 106936817 RE your note I believe he's buried next to her. I took a 2nd look at site & there is a space but no stone. If you have info on him I will add to a list I'm compiling so that I can check against IOOF burial list. It has been tied up w/volunteers from new cem assoc trying to computerize for almost 2 yrs. I can't help as they don't want the books taken out of office & I could only do working from my home - anyway, will put him & any detail you might have on a 'look see' basis - but I believe we're safe to assume he is in IOOF Gwood.
