I am a genealogist from Western Massachusetts who works primarily with cemeteries which do not readily have transcripts available. It is my goal to find and interlink these "lost souls" and develop the memorials to celebrate the lives of the departed. So many memorials are created on Find A Grave and left without any details other than perhaps what is on the headstone.

This website is an amazing tool for the genealogist and it's exposure to the general public is immense. Although it was started as a final disposition registry website, Find A Grave has become so much more and is without question one of the most useful free databases online.

I have photographed over 200,000 headstones/monuments & markers since September of 2013, just a year ago. I actively update, develop and interlink the memorials I have created on a daily basis. 90% are local to my area and a majority of those are pre-1900 burials.

I will try to help anyone who asks. I have been a dedicated genealogist for over 25 years. One of my true passions in life since my earliest years. If you need a local (Western Massachusetts) photo and you are not getting any response from a photo request, send me a message or email and I will get one for you provided the headstone exists. I am quite adept at decifering even the most worn and aged headstones, and have access to various local genealogy libraries and state archives which may provide plot and location info.

Transfers will typically follow FAG guidelines (exceptions are made in certain situations) and before I make a transfer I will fully develop the memorial as a few I have recently transferred have not been touched or developed and at least this way the important data will be there and you can re-write or add what you like.

*Please note, if you find that I have discovered the final resting place of an individual you have created a memorial for (burial unknown or incorrect cemetery) please contact me via email or edit/corrections. I always search the cemetery & town (and often county) before creating a memorial, and would never intentionally create a duplicate. I work very hard physically traveling to these often remote cemeteries in the hopes of discovering those previously lost. It is rather rude to dismiss my efforts and send me a "DUPLICATE" message after you have moved your memorial to where I have found the individual.

Thanks to all the FAG photo volunteers for your hard work! You are truly what makes this website such an incredible genealogical tool.

James

Re: Alfred E and Florence M Ingalls
Jim,

Thanks for the Ingalls headstone photos. Well done. With the info on the gravestones, I was able to track down several other family members.

Best regards,

John

Emma B. McKenzie Patterson
Would you please transfer the memorial for Emma B. McKenzie Patterson #132651850 to me, Rich65k #48109216.

I was about to create a memorial for her and request a photo, when I noticed that you had done both.

She was my grandfather's twin sister. There are quite a few additions and corrections needed for this memorial.

Hill Burying Ground - DOLE
Hi Jim,

Would you duplicate the photo for Abigail DOLE (133257186) on the memorial for her daughter, Sarah Jane DOLE (133274809). They are both on the same stone; Sarah is at the bottom.

Thanks!

Jan
