Bio and Links
Bio Photo Finding the graves of ancestors can be an overwhelming challenge. What started out years ago as an innocent quest to find the graves of my grandparents has become my passion. Vacations often end up with side trips to libraries or cemeteries, camera in hand, documenting the final resting place of my ancestors and special people. It is my contribution to others who share the special connection to those who are gone, but not forgotten.

BY Thelma Greene Reagan

Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.

Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.

Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.

Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.

Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.

Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.

Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

Sorry to be slow responding. Thank you for sharing the will. Unfortunately, although it bequeaths to Esther's heirs, it doesn't name them. I'm still working on identifying her children.

New Info re: memorials 12510083 & 12510102
I would rather write you privately but it does not appear to be an option. It appears that Lewis Cushman (1774-1842) had two wives. I have copied, below, the info I received from JJMac on 19 May 2014, along with my response to her. If you have questions you can write me directly at

Lewis Cushman, son of Samuel Cushman and Lydia Gano..b. May 20, 1774 Middleboro, Plymouth Co., Ma

According to Haskell Family Database and info from some of his children, Lewis was married twice...first to Dorcas Lane b. August 1779...died 1822....children b. after 1822 had a different mother...Lewis married Amelia Rollins on Dec. 6, 1823 and she and Lewis had the following children:
Sarah Emily
George Gano
Roxanne Adeline
Charles Harrison
William Montgomery

Lewis C. and Dorcas Lane had the following children...Isaac Lane , Dorcas, Susan, Lydia Gano, Lewis, Sophronia, Edward Thomas, Rosamond, Diana Heath, John Gano and Mary Jane...

Amelia Rollins was b. 1801 Maine d. Sept. 7, 1868 Monmouth, Kennebec Co., Maine
....will work more on this family
Hi Joni: Thanks for the info about Lewis Cushman having two wives. It makes great sense. I remember that I was entering data on his children I wondered how one woman could have soooo many children. I did not have a death date for Dorcas but the 1822 death date makes sense. It is the same year as birth of her last child Mary Jane (8 Mar 1822) so her death could have been related to child birth. What you sent also accounts for all the children, except one: Susan b. 6 Oct 1799. She is listed in the Henry Wyles Cushman book at p. 564.

I did some poking around and could not find any cemetery records for Lewis Cushman or either of his wives. There are Find A Grave virtual memorials for Lewis and Dorcas, memorials # 12510083 and # 12510102. There are links from these memorials to parents and some of the children, but there is no recognition that Lewis had two wives. I will write the person who is in charge of the memorials and send them a copy of your email. This will give the Find A Grave keeper of the grave the opportunity to change the info in the memorials

Thank you, again! You are a real help. I want to get this info correct.

Hello, I have a question and wondering if you could help me. On William L Wiley Tomlinson Find A Grave # 43471562 you listed a brother named Humphrey Wiley Tomlinson.
Are you familiar with the Tomlinson's. I was wondering where you got the name of Humphrey Wiley. I have been searching for my gggrandfather Humphrey Wiley for years. Family said he was from a large family and was born in Jasper or Oglethorpe GA. Just hoping you might have info that could get me on his trail.
Appreciate any bit of info you might could give me.

The Hutto Family
I am wondering where you came by the information on the Hutto family: Jacob K. Hutto 1783 - 1891, Charles Hutto Jr 1755 - 1817, etc. What were your sources for this information on the Hutto family. I anxiously await your reply.

Thank you for all the work and information you have provided on Find A Grave.

I found a picture of Mary Elizabeth Cross' tombstone and it shows her year of death as 1873. This is the website where I found the picture:[1].Near_Harmony_Bapt._Dooly_Co.__Ga._6_15_2006_018.jpg

Thank you again.
