Find A Grave Memorial # 90471040

I am looking for a living male direct descendant of Bernhardt or Bernhard "Bernard" Zimmerman born 1 Jan 1744/1745 in Pennsylvania and who died about Jan 1818 in Pine Grove, Schuylkill, Pennsylvania.

An article entitled, Peter Zimmerman of Steffisberg Switzerland, by Sharman Meck Carroll was in the January 2005 issue of Mennonite Family History. That article mentioned Bernard and his ancestry back to a Hans Zimmerman of Steffisberg, Bern Canton, Switzerland.

Hans is likely the father of Niclaus Zimmerman of Steffisberg. Two living descendant have Y-DNA tested and have found to be members of Group 5 of the Carpenter Cousins Y-DNA Project.

The goal is to test a living male direct descendant of Bernhardt or Bernhard "Bernard" Zimmerman to compare results with the rest of Group 5. Financial assistance may be provided for Y-DNA testing.

If you know of, or can direct me toward such a person, I would really appreciate it.

I am happy to answer questions.

Levi Leffler
I have another Levi that I have as Levi E. Leffler (Find A Grave#81622548) who is also from Pine Grove, but buried at St. Johns Lutheran. His dates are 06 Oct 1888 - 08 Nov 1902, age 14 yrs, 1 m and 2 d. I don't have further information on how he died. Is it possible that the two Levis are confused-Note the death date is the same. I should note that I found this Levi E first on the 1900 census with his family. He is a first cousin twice remover from the Levi Edward you have. Gives me something to investigate further.

Levi Edward Leffler
The memorial you have for Levi (Find A Grave# 135564772) says that he died from a gunshot wound at age 14, which does not match the dates of birth and death you posted. I have his twin dying at about 18. Is it possible that the two are confused and the age wrong. I tried to find him in earlier printed records of St. Peters, but he is not there. Do you know the source of your information? Thanks for any help you can give. I see you research the Eckler side of the family, I am researching Lefflers.

I was very happy to see the post from Melinda Roberts about the Dousmans as I am their great-great-great granddaughter. I had sent an email to you in August 2014 and you sent a reply but I lost it in the ether somewhere. I have some info about their daughter, Marie (Mary Ann) and David LeFevre and their children but not a whole lot. Thanks to all researchers as their clues are so welcome to us looking for our roots!

St. Anne's Catholic Church on Mackinac Island
I love this photo! I portrayed Rosalie Dousman in the 2013 Allouez Cemetery walk. Her story is fascinating, and I mentioned Rosalie and John's marriage on Mackinac Island in my dialogue. What an amazing church! I'll have to get up there to see it.
I added photos of Rosalie and John's gravesites to the post. Hope you enjoy them :)
There's more about Rosalie here on my website:

All the best,

Anna Barbara Null
Hi Anita, You and my wife Carolyn are related! Anna Barbara is her 6th Great Aunt. We would transfer but spent some time with her line. My wife is related to several Moravian families in PA & NC. We are gathering more information on those lines. Have been to Bethabara 3 times, Bethania 2 times. Bethania is open irregularly - but a very, very helpful woman. It will be worth your time. My wife grew up in Jasonville, IN. Holder-Loesch/Lash line went into IN about 1830.
Our file on ancestry McCullough-Stockrahm39 may help you. Any help you can give appreciated.
