|Bio and Links|
I've decided to change my profile to reiterate my feelings on transfers, additions, and corrections to the memorials that I manage:|
In fairness to those who may have closer ties to a memorial, please read the Transfer Guidelines prior to requesting a transfer. I will now transfer only within the stated guidelines. Please do not ask me to make a bulk transfer of names. I will make exceptions if I am personally doing work for you. You do not need to "manage" every memorial that is part of your family tree. Remember that this site is for locating burials, not building a tree. There are other websites that are more suitable for that purpose. I will be happy to make any links and corrections. PLEASE use the SAC feature ("Edit" tab). Please do not ask me to do links to any "Burial Unknown". Do your homework, first. Please feel free to add photos where appropriate, as you do not need to manage the memorial to add photos.
I will not cut and paste raw data from census records, death indices, etc. A nicely written bio is preferable.
Please consider using the "virtual cemetery" feature on this site to keep track of relations.
Since March 2013 I have taken over management of memorials in Inglewood Park Cemetery from Chris Mills. Please continue to send suggestions for corrections using the "Edit" tab and I will get to them as soon as I can.
Please have your messages enabled if you want to correspond with me. I will not use my personal e-mail on this site.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I appreciate all the time you took to look up the locations of the Van Beeks and Harpers. We did not realize that they did not have cemetery stones. It was very kind of you to show us they're lot locations with a photo. Find A Grave is a wonderful site but only because of people like you.

And......I left him a flower. Check it out!
That's a NO need for Find a Grave.
|Bernard Johnson||RE: Favor to Ask:|
I know exactly what you are saying and this 'problem' exists with many of us--I talk with about 3 or 4 others who claim the same thing. For me, for instance see #91380919 & #132365779, same thing as you. I don't know how to improve on yours as well. It seems that over the years they have tightened up what they deem 'famous', whereas previously they would accept anybody people submitted as such I'd say. Recently they gave the woman who invented Kevlar 'famous', yet in the bio they don't even say WHAT Kevlar (I know but many may not). Yet they won't approve mine for Aaron Lapin (at Hillside) who invented Redi Whip. They make NO sense. I seriously believe that they should have a board, like the Supreme Court, of like 3 or 5 members who review the submissions, instead of one person or a couple of them, but who never concur. A vote would be best. It is frustrating but I keep trying every so often, but keep posting them. I feel better having the control instead of them to be honest. I also wished they could keep track of how many 'hits' a person's memorial gets, because I find that MOST people do NOT leave a flower. I get many 'edits' and notes from people, but rarely do people leave a flower. So, I guess I can only commiserate with you, but not rectify the frustration. I have done the same as you, only to get ignored by them. I have a couple that they said they'd be interested in if I could do a better bio---but I don't know what to do better. Gracious, I don't have a degree in writing, give me a break, huh? Went out to Rose Hills at 8 this AM just for a husband & wife, and then to Calvary where I ended up taking about 50 photos. Am busy. It does take a while doesn't it? You do a good job. Even though you don't know it, I think your man gets noticed. Wonder where he's buried? These days most are cremation to residence. Next generation will have to need for a Find a Grave. LOL

Thank you for writing to me. I have added part of your suggestion below as a reference for you.
Yes this is the same person. Nordquist was her legal name when she died, but she liked to use Anderson because that was her first husband and father of her only child. (my father in law). I would suggest deleting the Anderson mem. #78084822 and change surname on the other one as you suggested. It would avoid confusion since she chose to put Anderson on her headstone. If I can ever find where Mr. Nordquist is buried, I will link him as spouse #2.
So......Alton Anderson is buried next to his mother in law. His wife is in a different part of the cemetery buried on top of her sister with two different names listed in cemetery records. Strange huh. Plus I found out from the cemetery that Alton's body was exhumed by the coroner for autopsy 2 weeks after he died at age 39. He was the Health Commissioner for Los Angeles during the reign of Mayor Frank Shaw who seems to be one of the most corrupt mayors in history. Shaw was thrown out of office and 3 of his commissioners died soon after. I have been trying to get autopsy records, but no luck. There are however, two death certificates for him. Interesting bit of Los Angeles history.

Hi Pam. Here is my dilemma: Bernice Nordquist or Bernice Anderson? That is the question. Apparently the cemetery has two separate records for the same person, but using a different last name. Alton Anderson is linked to the memorial for Bernice Nordquist. Please see memorial #78084822, which is Bernice Anderson. The location is exactly the same, same dates, etc. so this Bernice is the same one. One of them should be deleted. Since there are already photos on the Nordquist memorial, do you think I should just change the surname to Anderson, and delete #78084822? I would like to put information in the bio regarding the Nordquist name. Do you have information you could suggest?
