Bio and Links
Bio Photo In the 1980's I started researching my Linn ancestors (without benefit of computer) but got busy with my sons' activities and put it on hold. In 1999 a cousin got me involved with my Steinberg ancestors and I have been going full speed ahead ever since.

Upon graduating from the University of Illinois my father obtained employment in the State of Washington, far from any relatives. My ancestors (after entering the USA)settled in Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Montana, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio and New Jersey - I want to experience first hand where and how they lived so I travel the country obtaining data, meeting people, seeing the sights and tramping cemeteries. I missed the "cousin experience" growing up and think that is why I enjoy genealogy so much -- meeting new cousins (who cares if they are 1st or 10th cousins)and sharing our family histories.

I am researching Linn, Gibson, Weir, Scott, Polk, Steinberg, Koerner, Mitten, Bennett, Switzer (Swisher), Slonaker, Shaw, Goff, Townsend, McCarty and Whitehead, Miller, Schroen, Glabe, Schafer/Schaefer/Shafer. I am also reseaching Dishon, Deshon, DeShon, Deschamps and Herrold for my two sons.

I have found Clarissa Townsend often by her middle name "Amanda".

We could still be related, just further apart then we thought :)

George Townsend
I am unable to locate the parents of George W. Townsend, Sr. My grandmother Georgia was given a pocket watch in 1954 from her mother Olive May. Olive May was given that pocket watch in 1904 from W. S Townsend, of Perry Oklahoma. W. S. Townsend was a Jeweler in Enid, Oklahoma he had a store in West Side Square, Enid, Oklahoma. I have no idea who W.S Townsend is, but wonder if he could be George's father.

George was born 1816 in Genessee Fhals, New York. He served in the Military (April 18, 1848), He married Clarissa Amanda Bowling on January 1, 1849 in Rock Island County, Illinois.

Clarissa Amanda Bowling's parents are: Ambrose Green Bowling and Margaret James. Clarissa was born 1828 in Indiana.

Ambrose Green Bowling was born on June 1, 1781 in King George, Virginia, He served in the war of 1812 and died on May 7, 1865 in Taylor Ridge, Illonis.

Hi me again.

I wanted to let you know that on George W. Townsend's marriage license to Olive May Lewis, his mother is listed as "Bowling" not Harper. I believe that George' W's mother is Clarissa Amanda Bowling, not Sarah Harper.

You have Harley Preston's grandparents as George and Sarah.

Harley Preston Townsend

I was reading what you wrote on the Harley Preston Townsend, 129944104. I wanted to correct my grandmother's name, Georgia Knoll. My grandma's middle name was Louise, not Lucille.

Also I have that his grandparents were George W. Townsend and Clarissa Amanda Bowling Townsend. I think you have Sarah Harper. Do you know where you found that information?

No, I'm sorry I don't. I made Steven's memorial when his obituary came out.

RE: Sarah Jane
Hi, I apologize not trying to cause issue. Yes, please remove my bio and her mother the family that is attached is incorrect. The Sarah J. Workman that belongs to that family's death record states who her parents were. I also believed that this Sarah was the one but while searching for her death record I removed information to help find it and well, I was surprised as the information I had was wrong. I really wish they did not name all their children the same thing within family lines. Makes it very confusing.

Sarah Jane
Sorry, I have to make a big correction. Sarah J Gunsallis is not the same Sarah J.Workman. According to a death record Sarah J. Workman married a Rorabaugh, and died March 25,1918. I guess I made the same mistake as others and followed the wrong information. This Sarah J. may not even be a Workman or she is of another family. Sarah Jane Workman b.Nov, 15,1838 d.March 25, 1918. Father John Workman and mother Elizabeth Susan Workman. Again, I am sorry for the confusion.

Lawless, Patrick James
I am confused. Because I am new to Find A Grave I need a little more info on the list of names you provided.

Here is what I currently have for Lawless starting with Patrick James and going backwards.

Patrick James Lawless Born 2-28-1928 is one of 12 children born to James William Lawless Born 11-28-1897. The first 10 children were by his first wife Alma Fulton who died in 1948. Patrick then married Bess Walsh in 1951 and she had two children with Patrick.

Patrick's father, James William Lawless was one of 8 children born to Patrick Joseph Lawless Jr. Born 8-20-1872.

James' father, Patrick Joseph Lawless Jr. was one of 9 children born to Patrick Joseph Lawless Sr. Born 3-17-1830.

Patrick Jrs. father Patrick Joseph Lawless Sr. was one of the children born to William Lawless born in Ireland sometime between 1790 and 1805. This is where I have very little information.

I also have a lot of info after Patrick James and Ethel Hartman.

So, see if I have your message right

Patrick James and Ethel Hartman had 4 children:
Johannes Married Dorthea and had 5 children:
Johann Heinrich
Johann Adam
Jan Dishon (you)

My family trees include the following

Persons name, birth date, death date, place of burial; marriage date, wife's full name and her birth date, death date and place of burial.

Example below for Patrick James father:

James William Lawless; B 11-28-1897; D 2-20-1990; M 2-1-1922; Alma Mary Fulton; B 7-11-1899; D 5-7-1948; buried in Strawn, Ill.

Then I have a separate list giving the Find A Grave memorial number.

If the layout I have for the Steinberg line is correct, can you fill in the missing information and then I can send you a full copy of the list as I have it today.

Thanks for all your help.
