Do you know who his biological mother was?
|Susan Phillips||question on parents of Charles A Stroud|
I am new to researching this family, Charles A Stroud is my biological great grandfather. I was looking at records for Charles and his siblings as you list being born in Kentucky, compared to Isaac and Nancy Boyette Stroud in NC. The problem is that Charles and his siblings were all being born in Kentucky at the same time Isaac and Nancy were living in Lenoir, NC. Records show they were there before 1818, on censuses through 1850 and are buried in NC. so it appears they could not be this Charles A. Stroud's parents. How did you decide they were his parents? I also found two Charles A. Strouds in the Civil War records. One from MO that was a union soldier (listed under Anderson- which I believe was ours) and another Charles A. Stroud that was a Confederate soldier and in a prisoner of war camp- which is likely a different Charles Stroud. Thanks for any input you may have.
|Sharon McMillen||Wrong photo for Charles Anderson Stroud|
Sorry but the photo you have on Find A Grave for Charles Anderson Stroud is not correct--based on history of photography and clothing, the photo is a of a younger man from a different time period. In fact, that's the photo I posted to ancestry.com for his great grandson Charles Dow Stroud. We have that photo in items that were passed down to us from J.W. Stroud.

We went to the Younger Cemetery today and put a flower on his grave. You said he was your great grandfather? He is my 4th Great Grandfather. Wow!
You are very welcome!
