Bio and Links
Bio Photo In the spring of 2010, I became interested in finding out more about my father's family. My g-g-g-g grandfather, John P Lyle, settled in Paulding Co, Georgia, sometime before 1840. It is thought that he received land in the 1832 land lottery of the Cherokee lands. I worked on the LYLE family tree and then started looking for the graves of my extended family. I spend the majority of my time looking for graves in Paulding County and the counties that surround Paulding, such as Haralson, Polk, Bartow, Carroll, Cobb and Cherokee. Now that I am a retired teacher, I have found this to be a great way to fill in those extra hours I now have in my life.
I have to give credit to my brother, Tom 'CC' Lyle, and to my 1st cousin once removed, Dianne Eberhardt, for allowing me to use their genealogy research information in several of my FAG memorials.

Walter Lyle Family Bible and dates.
Hello Sandy I am Shawn Carlton Luther.I came across your info this evening about Walter Lyle. In 2010 I started my ancestry.com page. Due to my grandmothers family bible I found Jessie Iwanna Lyle daughter to(Clura Ann Lyle) It has many old dates back to The Lyle brothers when they arrived to the states from over seas. I think we should chat I have old family pictures and maybe a lot of info you would be interested in. My father will have to help identify some of them they are so old.My email is sluther810@gmail.com.I would like to verify some older birth dates all the way back to the 1700 if possible. I did the best I could trying to use the dates I have in this old family bible. A couple of years ago I came across some info on the 3 Lyle brother in a museum in Georgia I think Jacksonville. Their suppose to be a story book written. It has been over 3 years since I have worked on the family tree I started from the family Bible. I would Love to find out more and maybe get to know some old kin folks. Sincerely Shawn C Luther Family tree

Do you know how many graves are unmarked OR marked only with rocks at Post Oak? Are there any sexton records? Any info would be appreciated! THANKS!

Harriett Rakestraw
I looked today and could not locate a Harriett Rakestraw, but I did find a Rakestraw tombstone with the same dates that I would like to email to you and you look at it and see if this could be who you are looking for.

Brenda Taliaferro
Mahulda Golden Kirkland Memorial
On this tombstone is George Kirkland buried near her or is this a dual headsstone for both. Also her grand daughter, Geneva Beatrice Christian is buried in Mt. Hebron. I have had no success in getting a photo of Geneva's grave. Could you help.

William Anderson
Hi Sandy
I got an email from find a grave that you answered my photo request for a picture of his headstone. Did you take the picture of William Anderson's grave? Or did you just add the photo of his draft card?

RE: Mary Watts Blythe
Thanks for the reply -- am not kin. My mother corresponded a lot with people and they would write her -- just had a letter stating that this person was her half-sister's grandchild (back in the 1980's). If you were kin, I would forward letter. Thanks for your help.

Mary Watts Blythe
She had a daughter, Mattie (?) according to 1900 census who may have corresponded with my grandmother. Also, I believe have something from C. W. Blythe. If these are relatives of yours, please let me know. Barbara

James Hardy
Eld. Henry M. Hayes
Sandy, you added the WWI draft registration to the Find-A-Grave page for my maternal grandfather, Henry M. Hayes. You asked about his middle name. He had two middle names. His full name was Henry Marson Monroe Hayes. Surely there was a story or reason for the two middle names, but I was never aware of the background. His first wife was Nellie Vianne Sorrells, my maternal grandmother. She had a younger sister named Clara Sorrells, who married a man whose last name was Lyle. Are you descended from Clara Sorrells Lyle? (My maternal grandmother Nellie Sorrells Hayes is buried at High Shoals Cemetery in Paulding County, GA)

Thanks, Sandy, for your prompt response. I noticed that you are researching the Lyle families in GA. I have done some research on Dilmus Lyle (1774-1847), who married Katherine (Katherina) Reed/Reid, daughter of George Reed/Reid and his wife, Katherine Margaret Chambers. The father of this Dilmus was Maher Shallal Hashbaz Lyle (1737-1814), who fought in the American Revolution. This family is buried in the Lyle Cemetery in Jackson Co., GA.
