In the spring of 2010, I became interested in finding out more about my father's family. My g-g-g-g grandfather, John P Lyle, settled in Paulding Co, Georgia, sometime before 1840. It is thought that he received land in the 1832 land lottery of the Cherokee lands. I worked on the LYLE family tree and then started looking for the graves of my extended family. I spend the majority of my time looking for graves in Paulding County and the counties that surround Paulding, such as Haralson, Polk, Bartow, Carroll, Douglas, Cobb and Cherokee. I have found this to be a great way to fill in those extra hours I now have in my life as a retired person. |
I have to give credit to my brother, Tom 'CC' Lyle, and to my 1st cousin once removed, Dianne Eberhardt, for allowing me to use their genealogy research information in several of my FAG memorials.

I dont really know how all this works yet, but it is so interesting to me that you manage memorials for members of both my parents ancestors...on this one I am curious, since it says burial unknown does that mean the location as well as the date are not known? How do memorials such as this come to be created if there is no grave site to link to?

Not only is it a small world, the Rakestraws are a pretty big family, at least in this area anyway.
PS-Looks like your Rakestraws are not the same as mine, either. How about that!
|Valerie Hall||Catherine Earwood Lester|
Catherine was my mother's oldest sister. I thought I would let you know there are two other family members buried nearby in New Canaan Church cemetery: J Calvin Earwood (brother) and Lucille Earwood Huff (mother) and my mother, Shirley Hollis, also the sister of Catherine, is buried at Cheatham Hill in Marietta. And Catherine's father, James Henry Earwood, is at Crossroads Church in Dallas.
I know families are sometimes linked together but have no idea how to do that so I thought I would let you know. Or if I should pass the info along to someone else, I will be glad to do that.
Interesting that you list Rakestraw and Hardy as family, my grandmother was a Rakestraw who married a Hardy, but your Hardys don't appear to be the same as mine. :)
Thank you for the marriage information. Am visiting our daughters in Denver, so will add a bio when I get home in June. Two new grandchildren!
|David Levy||Jesse E. Waddell|
Do you have any further genealogical information on Jesse E. Waddell? I am a maternal descendant of Jesse through his son William Jesse Waddell and I'm very interested in founding out some of my maternal ancestry.
