In the spring of 2010, I became interested in finding out more about my father's family. My g-g-g-g grandfather, John P Lyle, settled in Paulding Co, Georgia, sometime before 1840. It is thought that he received land in the 1832 land lottery of the Cherokee lands. I worked on the LYLE family tree and then started looking for the graves of my extended family. I spend the majority of my time looking for graves in Paulding County and the counties that surround Paulding. Now that I am semi-retired, this has been a very rewarding experience. |
I have to give credit to my brother, Tom 'CC' Lyle, and to my 1st cousin once removed, Dianne Eberhardt, for allowing me to use a lot of their genealogy research information in several of my FAG memorials.

I greatly appreciate all the work you did on my grandparents memorials and then being so kind to transfer them to me. Have a blessed day, Patricia

I appreciate the memorial and information you have done on my grandfather, Barney Osbourne Casteel at Zion Baptist Church. I have a question about the two documents you have posted. He did work for the Textile Mill in Porterdale and that one looks accurate but I don't see a connection for the article on the right which is dated 7/12/18. His father Jonah (James) Casteel and mother Martha Long are different. There are 4 of us in the family researching our Casteel roots and as of today have not been able to get past Jonah (James) Casteel. Don't even know where he is buried, we have hit a dead end. Also wondering if you are a relative and could furnish any additional infomation on the Casteel family. I have connected all of grandpaw and granny's children to your memorial. Would appreciate any additional information you might have. The information I have came from a Family Record book my mother had done and she had Barney's middle name spelled Osborn instead of Osbourne. Thanks so much and happy searching, Patricia

Thank you for the transfer.

Hi Sandy, my name is David Lyle. i have been studying the Lyle story and I must say you have done a great job.
My father was David D. Lyle from Griffin, Ga, passed in Chattanooga, TN 2013. His Father was Ray R. Lyle from Paulding cty GA 1901-1980. His dad was Thomas Lyle died 1910....all the way back to David Locke Lyle and Mary Blair.
My special interest is gathering all the data I can about all the Lyle's who fought in the Civil War, dates, battles, stories, etc. If you know of any good links/sources, please advise. Thanks David
|Bud||Frances Nell Lyle Brannan|
Well, I added the links and look for an obit, but could not find anything but SSDI. Looks like she might have married Brannan last, but really I do not like to assume anything.
Say to save you typing and time why not just ask for a transfer of the memorials you have data on. I noticed you put flowers one with data, filled out the SAC and sent a message. I took my bio off when we went on a long road trip, but all of the Georgia memorials are for anyone, family or friend. We do not have any relatives here in Georgia.
Best regard, Bud

I adde the links, but saw your name all over there so I transferred them to you. Hope this is to your liking. If not, you can always transfer them back.
Happy Researching, Bud.
PS If you see any others of mine here in Georgia, or elsewhere, family or friend, please do not hesitate to ask for them. BB

Thank you, Sandy for the note. My mother's g-grandfather was William Clayton Shipley b 1788 KY., d 1880 Floyd Co., Ga., m (1) 1823, Sarah DANFORTH, Hall Co., Ga., m (2) Elizabeth CAMERON abt. 1831 prob. Paulding Co., Ga. I think 1st wife, Sarah DANFORTH prob. died abt. 1829 or 1830, and is prob. buried either Paulding Co., or Carroll Co., Ga. I descend from Elizabeth CAMERON, the 2nd wife. I am of the opinion Sarah DANFORTH descended from the DANFORTHs of Douglas & Campbell Cos., Ga.; no direct proof. She was prob. sister/o Alzira DANFORTH who married William Frederick ADERHOLD.
I also think my SHIPLEYs are kin to the CARNES of Paulding & Carroll Cos. but again, no proof. I know some of the CARNES are buried Paulding Co. I appreciate your offer and will take you up on it if I think of anyone. Right now most of my info is iffy. The only one I would love to find for sure would be the grave of Sarah (Danforth) SHIPLEY. I think she is prob. the mother of Martha (Shipley) JAMES, w/o Stephen JAMES of Douglas Co., Ga., but again, no proof. Thanks again for your offer.

Am interested in your LYLE name. The name LYLES is in my mother's line and they were originally from Maryland. Was yours always LYLE or was it LYLES? They dropped the (S) in my gg-grandmother's name and it took me awhile (with a whole lot of wonderful help) to finally figure it out.
My mother's SHIPLEY line is from Floyd Co., Ga. but lived in the early 1830s in Paulding Co., Ga. I prob. have relatives buried there but don't know names.

Find A Grave Memorial# 54682271. Thanks for the marriage information. I'm not related and will be happy to transfer to you; let me know if you want him and wife. Also any idea where Lizzie is buried so I might link them?

The links you gave me didn't work. I simply made the transfer. I'm happy to do so.
