|I was born and raised in Iowa, but have called CA home for over 25 years.|
I am new to family history research, but I am hooked!
I recently made some connections on Find A Grave and am quickly learning what a great tool it is in searching through family history.
I also discovered I have a passion for indexing (and photographing) local cemeteries. If we all do our part, the information each of us needs will be right at our fingertips.
Thank you to those responsible for this fabulous website. What an incredible tool and service you provide!
Your tombstone stands among the rest;
neglected and alone
The name and date are chiseled out
on polished, marbled stone
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn
You did not know that I'd exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
in flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
one hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
and come to visit you.

thank you so much for covering this cemetery, I wish more people would. This is the step grandparents of my 1/2 sister...Don't ask me why I would do research on them... They were both born in Ireland and had several children Eileen is the oldest daughter then Elmer John, and John J. will check more to see if the John Jacob in the same cemetery is the son.

I am a Vermont Civil War buff, and am working on a project to locate many C.W. Veterans with ties to Vermont. Jacob Lawrence is one of those soldiers.I am asking you if I may use the photo you have posted on his Find A Grave memorial page, to post on the Vermont Civil War site?. ( www.vermontcivilwar.org) You would receive credit for this.
Thank you for your consideration.

Hi and thanks for uploading this plot info. Just a question on how you located the dates? We are researching family history and noticed the death date was 1913 but looks like it may be earlier since a 1910 census shows he had passed away by 1910. Can you check on that date? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

|Sharon Godfrey||Birth year|
Becky, just a quick note to make a correction to the birth year of my great-grandfather. Clearly the Headstone is inscribed March 4, 1854 however you transcribed the date to read 1859. Please make this correction as it appears incorrect. As a family member, I want to see family information transcribed correctly as the date indicates on the Headstone. Thank you in advance for doing so Sharon Kay Wilson Godfrey daughter of Nedra Louise Craig and Donald Raymond Wilson.
Thanks Becky you are awesome! Am hoping tomorrow night to get bio's and pictures added. Wish everyone was so easy to work with as you were. I truly appreciate it.

I am new to find a grave as far as entering information that is. I have used it as a genealogy tool for a couple of years now. I see that you have the Bullers family in the Sheppard Cemetery in Gifford, Iowa. I was wondering if you would or could transfer them to me. I have their obituaries and pictures I would like to post to them as well as linking them to other family members buried in Williamsburg, Iowa. Thanks so much for all you have done so far. Curious how does California get to rural Gifford, Iowa?

Thanks for writing - Clarcy is my wife's grandmother, she knew her well. Coincidentally, Clarcy's nickname in the family was Grandma Becky.
Looking forward to communicating more on this subject........

|Gary Carlsen||RE: Re: Obituaries/Memorial|
Becky: I do volunteer obituary look ups in Monterey County, and if the person is not on Find A Grave I start a memrorial. If there is a memorial already exsisting I try to have the owner paste in the obit. I have obits for 3 memorials at IOOF in Salinas belonging to you. They are members of the Blackie family. If you can not help I understand. Thanks Gary
