Hi! Welcome to my little part of the world at Life in the Past Lane. [Online 10 years but offline for now]
Honoring the past generations, helping families to find their ancestors and finding out how many of us all have a connection and many more cuzins than we ever dreamed. Finding our ancestors and walking through the lands of times past.

I only work on genealogy on days ending in "Y" ©

For the cuzins I have met previously "Hi" and for the new cuzins I hope to meet "HI" to you to.
We have many many paths to walk that our ancestors walked, and our time here is in honor to them.

6-2013 NOTICE: PHOTOS of family members of my current lines - DO NOT TAKE without asking!!!! I have recently found my parents grandparents aunts uncles on other personal sites and have NO IDEA of when the cuzin took them or who they are. We are online to share information with family: BUT not without asking .. COPYRIGHT photos of precious parent /family photos etc are NOT TO BE TAKEN!!
Ask and see what happens ;-> !!!!

I leave "Daisys" on all family members that are in my data and lines [direct and extended].
I leave other flowers for memorials I have help link up and/or helped someone else with.
Other flowers also can mean I havent located or logged them in my data . We all have ALOT of branches and trees to climb and explore.

I do enter cemeteries when possible. It is to help others find their family members as well as it probably has an ancestor or two of mine.
I am not about numbers , I am about family and heritage and our ancestors. If I have a memorial that is part of your family line, I dont mind transfering [as long as it isnt part of my direct]. If I have made an error, just let me know and if I have dupped in error. Just let me know where and who. We have many generations , with so many simular names - errors are possible . But puzzles are so much fun finding validation of one piece at a time, till the picture among the pieces start to take form.

I do choose to post death certificates. DC's help with family medical history documenting. We all need to know what our family medical history was/is also.

Dates on papers, bibles, headstones, & certificates may vary. We are working through our families pasts and lives and getting the dates may sometimes be the best drawn conclusion that is to be drawn.

My immediate direct lines I am working with are:
Ward, Pennington, [Taylor-Gardner] Chapman, Lawless
Direct GG+ Grandparent lines:
Adkins, Anderson, Bawle, Beaumont, Belcher, Blevins , Brockett, Canoe, Carpenter, Cock, Coleman, +++[will update list again]

My Mother Mary Jane Gardner Taylor passed away Dec 26,2011. She did so enjoy learning of all my new finds and helping as she could, to fill in missing information and facts. She will be greatly missed by so many family members and friends.

My Uncle James Edward Gardner mothers' last brother passed away April 8 2012. Such a sad feeling of seeing the family lines end, but the next geneation now becomes the "Elders".

I saw behind me those who had gone, and before me those who are to come. I looked back and saw my father and his father and all our fathers, and in front to see my son and his son, and the sons upon sons beyond. And their eyes were my eyes. As I felt so they had felt, and were to feel, as then, so now, as tomorrow and forever. Then I was not afraid, for I was in a long line that had no beginning and no end. And the hand of his father grasped my father's hand and his hand was in mine, and my unborn son took my right hand and all, up and down the line that stretched from Time That Was to Time That Is and Is Not Yet, raised their hands to show the link. And we found that we were one....

From: "How Green Was My Valley", by Richard Llewellyn

A Prayer for Genealogists
Lord, help me dig into the past
And sift the sands of time,
That I might find the roots that made
This family tree of mine.

Lord, help me trace the ancient roads
On which my fathers trod,
And led them through so many lands
To find our present sod.

Lord, help me find an ancient book
Or dusty manuscript
That's safely hidden now away
In some forgotten crypt;

Lord, let it bridge the gap that haunts
my soul when I can't find
The missing link between some name
that ends the same as mine.

WARNING....GENEALOGY POX; [very contagious to adults]

Continual complaints as to need for names, dates and places. Patient has blank expression, sometimes deaf to spouse and children. Has no taste for work of any kind, except feverishly looking through records at libraries, courthouses and internet, Has compulsion to write letters and send e-mail. Swears at mailman when he doesn't stop and leave mail. Frenquents strange places such as cemeteries, ruins and remote desolate country areas. Makes secret night calls. Hides phone bills from spouse and mumbles to [him or her] self. Has strange far away look in eyes.

Medication is useless. There is no known cure. Disease is not fatal, but gets progressively worse. Patient should attend genealogy workshops, subscribe to genealogy magazines and be given a quiet corner in the house where he or she can be alone.

The unusual nature of this disease is...the sicker the patient gets, the more he or she seems to enjoy it!

A. Scott
Dorcus McClure Dolinger
Hello my name is Alice Scott. I found a mistake in info for Dorcus and how do I go about getting it corrected? Her children are Gladys L Dolinger Greer and Ruth. My grandmother is Gladys. It is listed her children were Ruth and Ettie. But the Ettie is incorrect. If you go to Ruths page you will see an obituary. It shows Gladys (McClure) Greer as ger sister. Her parents: JR and Dorcus Dolinger built and lived in the St.Claire's creek area. Not far from the Samuel McClure home place. Thank you and hope to hear from you.,

RE: re Harris Cemetery
Yes, I think they may have finally merged this cemetery. I know there has been dispute about the name and I did report it a while back. So now it looks like I have some duplicates. I eliminated those under Harris and will look for more but if you see them, feel free to tell me. Mary

Paul Dale Gardner, Sr. -- #55333339
Good afternoon,

Thank you so much for helping to preserve family history and all the work you do!

Wanted to let you know of a correction that needs to be made to preserve genealogical authenticity and history for those who are researching their family roots.

I was gathering information for our daughter, I noticed when I pulled up Paul Dale Gardner, Sr's find a grave information, that his date of birth is listed as "January" 2, 1926. His date of birth is "June" 2, 1926. Mr. Gardner is my husband's (Paul Dale Gardner, Jr's) father.

If that correction could be made, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again for everything you do!

RE: Hi
Hi! I've been off and on over the winter. Got your edits. Thanks. Also, I finished the Hazelwood History book I was working on. I've donated several copies to the Mercer County Historical society. They are selling them for $20 each. You can email an order on their facebook page or their website.

I think you would like it. It has a photo of Big John!

Speaking of far did you get on those? To be honest, its been so long I can't remember where I ended on them. I could work on the tail end of those you were working on and we could meet somewhere in the middle I guess. I'll let you know.

RE: Re Zora and Roy Wise Webb 32611292
Memorials moved to Highland. Pictures posted to the memorials. I deleted the memorials I created.
All done.

In other news....Steven Odell Combs, Sr passed away (Vaughan Guynn McGrady)and a memorial was created for him in the Phillips Cemetery in Deepwater. I doubt that is where he is being laid to rest. I suspect he will be buried out Fancy Gap way or even down in Cana. But that is how folks get put in the wrong cemetery. Sorry...just editorializing....

Anyway a nice warm non windy day here is Virginia.

Just by accident I discovered that you had searched for Roy and Zora's marker at the Pine View Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Carroll County.

I found their marker in Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin Va.

If you and whoever owns their memorials want to move their memorials to Highland, let me know and I will remove the memorials I created for them at Highland.

Spring is on the way. It is 55 here today. Hope to do a little more field work this spring.

Best regards, -A
