My name is Ellen. I live in the Bristol County area of Massachusetts which is centrally located between Boston, MA and Providence, RI. |
Gravestone photography is one of my favorite hobbies. Nothing like spending a weekend afternoon browsing the gravestones in a cemetery! I'd much rather do this than shopping in a mall or doing household chores! :-) Many times I add a cemetery research excursion while on vacation too! If there is a way to fit in a "side-trip", I will find it!
I am a member of ancestry.com; where much of my research comes from. Years ago. before computers, it was different. My research back then was by snail mail and going to town halls and libraries. I have kept every bit of correspondence with my older relatives as well. Unfortunately the elders are disappearing and my generation is becoming the older generation.
I am active with the DAR and CDXVIIC, and have coordinated several DAR and CDXVIIC graveside markings as well.
I have added flowers and the "tree of life" to many of my ancestors' gravestones in Findagrave. If you happen to notice you are also related to me, please contact me, as I would love to hear from you. I like "collecting cousins"!
As many of you agree, a gravestone may be the only thing left in the world to remind us of someone who has departed.
I am very interested in viewing gravestones with the surname NOEL, NEWELL, TAILLON, LATAILLE and ALLAIRE. If you find any of these while on your treks through graveyards and cemeteries in New England, please contact me and post them.
I am also interested in seeing gravestones with the DAR and Colonial Dames insignia.
Thank you in advance!
Family names in New England I am researching are:
RANDALL, MASON, HUTCHINS, LAYR, MOYE, NEWELL, NOEL, ALLAIRE, TAILLON, HAMILTON, PERKINS, CHAPIN, PHILLIPS, ASHTON, IRELAND, ...on and on it goes.

Thank you for photographing the grave marker of Myron, my great aunt. I wonder if the husband of Marion Davis Briggs (Myron Talbot Briggs) is buried next to her? If so, I have an open photo request for his headstone too.

Hi Ellen, I'm not sure what to say. Did not receive your second message either. Only the notification from Find a Grave that you had posted on my profile page. Just checked and email is correct on my profile and junk folders are empty, so?????
I'm sorry for the trouble. Perhaps you could just answer on my page or yours. Thank you.

Hello and thank you for all your wonderful work. I am one of a small group doing a cleanup at this site and hoping to spark an interest in a more intensive restoration.
I noticed the photo you added on 8/31/2008 and am wondering...
How old is the photo? The scene shown is not during summer. We have been removing a heavy concentration of saplings 6-7' high and are just trying to get a sense of how often that may need to be repeated, if the town won't adopt some form of maintenance.
The iron rails are also in much worse shape than your photo shows, my guess would be 50-60% down/damaged. Wish us luck and join us on Facebook if you would like follow out efforts.

|Team White Sage||Crockett Cemetery photo?|
Hi! I was just looking at the photos you took for the Crockett Cemetery in Sanbornton, NH and I noticed one of them was incorrect...it's the one captioned "Entrance to Crockett Cemetery". That photo is actually the entrance to the "Centre Cemetery" (aka Center Cemetery and Tower Hill Cemetery). I recognized it immediately, as I am on the Centre Cemetery Committee and have been there several times! Feel free to post it to the Centre Cemetery if you'd like...it's a beautiful photo :)
|Chip5610||Thank you very much!|
For the gravestone of Marcy Briggs!

|MissKitty||Rebecca (Morse) Capron gravestone photo|
May I have your permission to download the photo of the gravestone of Rebecca (Morse) Capron (Memorial# 30151676)?
I would like to upload the image into may Ancestry family tree.
Thank you for your consideration.
