It bothers me so to see people ruining the integrity of such a valuable tool as "Find A Grave" by posting multiple listings of the same cemetery, cemeteries that don't exist or just guessing that someone might be buried in a given cemetery. I have photographed several hundred cemeteries in Northeastern Conn. Mass. and R.I. and only once did I find a cemetery that wasn't already listed. Even then I researched it and the people entered there for several months before adding it. I have over 250,000 gravestone photos and have photographed many cemeteries in there entirety, I use the "Hale Collection" done in the 1930's as my bible. If your marker request is older than a 1932 death date and not listed in the "Hale" census, you can be 999.9% sure it doesn't exist. If the marker wasn't there then or was unreadable, how can you expect someone to find it now? Being so, I'll no longer fill requests for anyone who abuses the integrity of this site. PLEASE do us both a favor and check with the Hale Collection before entering a request older than 1932 or adding a new cemetery as most likely if its in the Windham, Tolland, New London, or Hartford Counties of Connecticut its already listed, could be just under a different name than you might have. There are some cemeteries that have had name changes or even have several names. Quite a few older cemeteries have even been moved and combined with others. If your still unsure or having a problem, I'll be glad to help you research it. Thank You. The link to the "Hale Collection" is...http://www.hale-collection.com/index.html|
USE OF PHOTOS: All photos on Find A Grave are copyright protected and permission is needed for even personal use. Those who strictly prohibit the use of photos for any and all reasons have no place in posting them in a public forum. But I myself have restricted the use of my photos because of a very few who abuse this site and have taken my photos only to post them as there own. This site should be left to we addicted genealogists who believe in helping each other out. After all, were all brothers and sisters through Adam and Eve. Being said; Even though I mark my photos copyright protected, there use for personal reasons is granted as long as there posting to your site meet one of two conditions. My newer photos have the copyright disclaimer already watermarked onto the photo, and although adding "Photo by brianz190" somewhere would be a nice gesture, if its already on the photo, its not needed. But for my older photos where there's no watermark, permission is granted as long as somewhere it credits me ( "Photo by brianz190" )as having taken the picture. I apologize for those few photos I've placed a watermark across the face of the monument, But that was done because I know that's a photo sought after by one of those few abusers. Photos that you will be using for personal use and you will "NOT" be reposting anywhere online/and those you will use for printing are available on request without the watermark. Thank You for understanding.
PHOTO REQUESTS AND INFORMATION INQUIRES;
I have over a quarter million gravestone photographs, Keep that in mind when sending me a message or e mail. Its almost impossible to figure out who your talking about if you don't send me the full name, (and or maiden name) dates of birth and death, cemetery there in, and photo number on my photo if there is one.
"NOTE" Due to the mess "Ancestry" has made in combining cemeteries with like names, I'll no longer be filling requests in the Old Westfield or Westfield Cemeteries, Danielson, Connecticut. Questions or comments about duplicate entries you see in the Westfield Cemetery should be directed to Find A Grave or Ancestry, as they are the ones who combined Old Westfield and Westfield which are two different cemeteries. An Update as of 25 Sep 2015 Old Litchfield and Litchfield Cemeteries in Hampton Connecticut can also be added to the list I'll have nothing to do with from now on. Blame Ancestry for merging two different cemeteries yet again. Thank You

|Christian Page||RE: Bathsheba Thayer Sherman|
Thanks... The book will be out around this April (2016).
|Christian Page||Bathsheba Thayer Sherman|
my name is Christian Page. I'm a Canadian journalist/author in Montreal (Quebec/CANADA). At the present time, I'm working on an upcoming book (in French) about "Movies based on true stories". Among my selected movies, there's the (2013) movie The Conjuring, based on Perron family (alleged) haunting. For the purpose of this chapter, I would like to enclose the (your) picture of Bathsheba Thayer Sherman tombstone. So, I take the liberty for asking for your authorization to use that picture. I can't offer you any money for that, but I give you my word that the source of the picture will be mentioned and I will send you a copy of the book when it will be out.
Thanking you advance for your kind collaboration.

By way of introduction, I am the editor of the WW&F Railway Museum Newsletter. The Museum has just completed the restoration of the locomotive mentioned in the Find A Grave memorial for Alice Azubah Ramsdell. The memorial includes your photographs of both sides of her grave marker. I would like to obtain a copy of the side that shows the locomotive and permission to publish it in our newsletter. I will provide a photo credit line, but if you would like to add a copyright imprint in the photo, that would be good. Thanks!

OK - that's fine. I hope Find A Grave can get the names of the cemeteries straight some day. Such a pity that they screwed up all of your hard work.

Brian - Thank you for explaining this whole thing to me. What a pain to have all that happen to your memorials after all of your work! I presume you've told Ancestry about it by now. And I guess they haven't offered to correct anything or at least apologize to you.
I obviously hadn't read your bio before I sent my message to you. Sorry about that.
Well, I hope the whole thing gets corrected at some point. Would you like me to post the photo of her headstone and give you credit for it with an explanation of it being located at the Old Litchfield Cemetery? Whatever you want me to do or not do is fine with me.
Thanks again for all of your work and for your thorough explanation to me. I appreciate both.
Hi Brian - After receiving the message that her grave couldn't be found at the Litchfield Cemetery, I tracked down a photo of her headstone on someone's Ancestry tree. The inscription is even legible. I presume it's next to her husband, Samuel's.
I"m very curious why you couldn't find it. Did you find Samuel's grave?
I can send you a photo of her headstone - it looks identical to her husband's. It would be nice to have a photo of her headstone on her Find A Grave memorial if at all possible.
Please let me know what you think about what I"ve said here.
Thanks a lot - Janet
Thank you for the photos of Joseph and Murcy Tucker I appreciate them.

Hi You posted a photo of Charity and Emily's stone on his Memorial and I believe this is the BACK of his stone and his name is on the other side. Could you post a picture of Cheney's side of the stone? Thanks so much!!!
|John Beckstein||William & Mary Snow|
Can you add the picture you took for William Snow memorial# 77729325 and add to his wife Mary Memorial# 77729193? If you look at the bottom of picture you will see she is listed also.
